Protip for Brewmasters regarding scaling

Right now our vers scaling is pretty bad. So much so that regardless of what any guide says crit/mastery are the only things worth investing in. Brew has 2 major defensive breakpoints. The first being when 2 stacks of elusive brawler, your base dodge and whatever dodge bonuses you have at the time is 51%. The second is when 1 stack of elusive brawler and everything else reaches that. At 608 i sit at 29% crit 4% haste 24% mastery 3% vers. My dodge rating is 16% so with 1 stack of elusive brawler i sit at 40% using a brew temporarily gives me 10% and training of nizauo or however its spelled fills in the rest. That said our scaling on stats right now is flat out trash and i hope they fix it. I’m not going to lie though brew feels good at those stats.

group comp certainly helps too. Once i can get this to where my base dodge + mastery is around 45ish percent and a little bit of the nizaou thing makes up the other 6% it will be pretty busted.

Not to disregard the experiences you’re having but the BMs pushing the highest keys right now are prioritizing Crit and Verse. We cannot dodge magic damage and stagger has reduced effectiveness against it, so Verse seems to make more sense than Mastery.

I’m interested to how my heavy haste gear from mw and ww will play out as brew. Should be fun. I switch to as many passive talents as I can so I can use my energy bar for flurry.

I’m all Crit/Haste from WW gear too. I have very little Mastery and Vers. Clearing Mythic+ right now with zero issue. Comparing my Damage Taken (DTPS) with other tanks I’ve run with, I actually have the lowest with the exception of Prot Warrior. And for those people saying Brewmaster self-healing sucks, although I don’t necessarily disagree, I’m hitting 500k HPS on myself pretty frequently, and in every +4-+6 dungeon I’ve completed so far I’ve healed myself FAR more than any healer has healed me.

I’ve done +10s. I haven’t been 1 shot a single time, nor died to trash in any dungeon besides the empowered mobs in Mists on a +10. The class works, but it does have many problems.

  1. The times I’ve almost died I’ve always been at 100% stagger for like 10-20 seconds. The cooldown of Purifying Brew is too long. Other than that I feel really tanky with a good healer.
  2. Threat is extremely hard to obtain on any mobs that are spread out. Last boss of Grim Batol is barely doable with Statue taunt. 2nd boss Necrotic Wake is another big problem. Mini boss before last boss in Dawnbreaker is also annoying. We don’t have a button that will hold aggro for the amount of burst damage some classes can do in a single global.
  3. Healing is bad. My group wiped and I soloed the last tentacle on a +9 Siege of Boralus (just out living the dot), and 3 of 5 globals had to be vivify and 1 expel harm to survive it. Celestial Brew is pretty pathetic, the conditional shouldn’t be there. 3x it baseline.
  4. Celestial Brew and Weapons of Order should not be on GCD. Ignore pain isn’t on GCD nor is Recklessness/Avatar.

8.4k crit, 5k haste, 7k mastery, 11.1k verse.
