Currently on my phone, so i dont know how to show vids. But im assuming that AM is active mitigation. That comes in the form of shield of the righteous (SOTR). Lets talk about how prot paladins work. I will list the bread and butter skills:
SOTR–> Cone attack infront of you that increases armor. Cooldown reduced by hammer of judgement and Haste
Consecrate --> Paired with mastery, reduces all damage taken by ×% and increases block chance while you are standing in your own consecration.
So from the first 2 skills you should already know whats your most important secondary stats. Haste + Mastery. To me, crit = vers.
So it goes:
- Strength
- Haste
- Mastery
- crit = vers
So why haste? SOTR coolsdown faster, and hammer of judgement coolsdown faster each hammer of judgement cast reduces SOTR by 3 secs
Mastery? Well with consecrate being on a short cooldown now you will ALWAYS be standing on it and get the free dmg reduction and block.
So we always want to set ourselves up for success and that means having the right talents, we dont need to worry about azerite just yet.
Tier 1: You’ll always wanna be defaulting to holy shield, flat 15% increase to block and able to block spells. That means you will have about 35 - 40% block. INSANITY i know.
Tier 2: Here i like to go for crusaders judgement, it gives you 2 charges of hammer of judgement. And also makes your passive grand crusader refund a charge of hammer along with avengers shield. Thats an instant 6 second cd on SOTR which recharges every 3 seconds and an extra cherry proc. Need i say more?
Tier 3: this is our utility, repentence is a CC and fist of justice makes your stun cd 5 seconds faster every time you throw a hammer remember you have 2 hammer charges now
Tier 4: You will be choosing between cavalier (your main mobility skill) or blessing of spellwarding. Depending on what you are running blessing of spell warding will allow you to ignore some mechanics.
Tier 5: 3 juicy looking skills, Hand of the protector allows you to heal your team with a skill you have called light of the protector. Quite cool if your healer is having trouble. Final stand, is a oh **** button, it makes your bubble also taunt all enemies, thats 8 seconds of immunity while your team can regroup and center themselves. Last one is unbreakable spirit. This makes your on demand cds cool down faster. All 3 are viable, you just gotta adjust abit on the fly.
Tier 6: You only got 2 talents here, judgement of light and consecrated ground. Raids --> judgement of light, mythic+ consecrated ground.
Tier 7: Once again all 3 are good, you will probably start out with last defender or righteous protector when dont have the desired secondary stats. But once you have a good amount of haste and mastery, Seraphim makes a paladin shine. Use it in conjuction with avenging wrath and trinklets and you will see yourself pulling 10-11k dps on bosses. You will use seraphim alone on trash packs cause its on a 45 second cooldown too.
I hope these explanations were easy enough to understand and i welcome you to the paladin community.
