Prot weapon enchant PvP

Just curious as to which enchant my fellow Prot warriors prefer in PvP (I only do BG’s atm). I have been using Radiant Power but was curious if Depths is better and if so what your reasons are? I’ve seen a mix when looking at top players some us radiant some use depths so was just curious on others thoughts

Radiant, to me, is more beneficial due to strength providing armor as well as an increase to ignore pain. If you can line it up with avatar, the bonus is even greater.

Depths is pure passive damage that ends there.

I’ve been using the Storm one (sorry forgot name). The haste proc one. I went with majority haste gear but have been playing around with some extra crit. So using the haste proc weapon enchant to help fill in the loss of haste. Still feels really sturdy and does solid damage output. Usually top 5 in damage meters and top 4 in healing pretty regularly.
I’d say just try some of them out and see what feels good with your playstyle.

Thanks for the info I’ll have to give the haste one a shot haven’t tried that one out

I went with Oathsworn Tenacity. I’ve seen top ranked guys with Haste, Versatility, and Radiant so you can pick the one that fits your playstyle.

Radiant is for burst especially if you are stacking some Mastery which amplies the proc rewarding more attack power. If your build is focused on big hits, executes, demolish etc then this will fit your play style.

However Depths is more overall consistent pressure, for fighting kiting classes and good for when you are in heavy CC situations. If a Mage for example gets away you have up 3 Dots with Rend, Deep wounds and Depths. While sitting there rooted you can heroic throw and refresh stacks of Depth or add stacks till you get back on target.

If you get a Radiant proc if they are good they will CC you and now that is a missed opportunity. You aren’t getting damage out.

Typically when CCed you aren’t doing any damage but Dots still are so I prefer Depths to get damage out especially vs Rogues, Feral, Mage etc.

Also Demo shout does increase Depth damage by 20% same for any proc. Long story short both are outstanding and have big benefits in PvP depending on play style or what counters different specs.

Tossup between Radiant Authority and Authority of the Depths.

Forgot strenth not only adds to armor, but it also gives parry, and since every str and armor buff piggyback off one another, the increase is a bit more than just the provided flat value.

Abomb raises some excellent points about the niche scenarios (also pretty sure he is the highest rated prot warrior in blitz)

Thanks I try to give perspective. I was Rank 1 but haven’t Qued in a few weeks. Been grinding some other games and it is a great year for gaming. I can’t wait for PoE 2 next month.

Yea been playing some Last Epoch to get my ARPG mind ready that’s also a great game for that. Very excited for PoE 2 though gonna be massive!

I put a couple 100 hours into Throne and Liberty too it’s a great MMO. However there is just something about ARPGs that is so addicting.

Authority of the depths is your absolute best choice for single target especially if you stack haste which most prots do.

Mastery all day, baybee (as a colossus enjoyer, at least)

Slam hits for 700k easy for just 20 rage

I could honestly see a case for mastery/crit to offer some kill pressure. Haste is good for overall dps but you don’t really kill stuff outside of executes but it does help with durability and spinning. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

Does it actually hit for 700k or is it just the tooltip? My tooltip says 630k but it only hits for 175k.

Dummy doesn’t apply the pvp auras for some reason.

Hit a crit for almost 800k with it last night, and if you can land a demolish into execute, no clothie will survive

Keep in mind Demo shout increases damage by 20% which also won’t show on tool tip since target is debuffed.

With that said Prot can hit 2mil + with several attacks especially with Mastery gear and enough attack power lining CDs, trinkets and debuffs.

I’ve hit a 2.3 mil shield slam on the PvP dummy messing with outburst. Although I typically don’t play that. Of course that is doing double Dps trinkets though as human too with stars alligned.

Lot of options though which is a good thing. I personally always been a fan of Deja character sheet addon. It gives me extra stat options to track attack power, GCD and theorycraft more. Get above 100K Att power with everything up pop Demo shout and boom.

I would like to live the sword/board fantasy in pvp as well. Does paladin do it better killing wise? Which hero tree is better for it? Does it do decent in battlegrounds or only in arena or vise versa? What do you normally DO as prot in pvp, is it just escort, flag run, guard bases or actively kill players?

Colossus for single-target burst and thane for aoe tanking, in most cases.

Depending on the comp, if they have a ton of self-peel and a holy pally, you’d probably be better off with thane just due to demolish being difficult to get off against anyone.

You can carry flags if you have a presevoker pulling you around, but I think warriors are better off as frontline fighters or playing support for the FC with things like bodyguard, which shut down physicals trying to dogpile the FC.

Guarding a node with a healer is definitely an A1 strat so long as your teammates are competent and actually hold other nodes, otherwise you’re better off spinning and denying (though you are more reliant on a pocket healer than some other tanks)
