To give some context, this is coming from someone who is a diehard warrior player and main’d one all the way from classic to now. But I have to ask…what’s the deal with prot warriors in this expansion?
For comparison, I have a DK tank and threat is amazing, I barely take any damage (almost to the point where I can solo parts of some dungeons) and have a ton of CD’s to save my hide. Then to my warrior…
The char is in mostly P2 BIS, but while tanking dungeons I take a ton of damage. I feel bad for the healers because with almost all of them, I wipe their mana out every few pulls.
Add to this that initial/snap threat is meh due to rage dependency, my damage is no better than the other tank classes, I only have 2 cooldowns and there is barely any way to heal myself. I see literally nothing that makes me unique or provide any utility. Really - I can’t think of one single thing I do better than any of the other tank classes.
Am I missing something? Is there something I’m not doing right, or is this other’s experience too?
Bad at the end of last xpac, bad until the very end of this one, bad until the very end of the next one, nobody cares about wod and beyond.
And when I say “bad until the very end” I mean, “the spec is the absolute worst tank and only becomes even remotely comparable to the good tanks when you are in full bis from the last raid tier and now it doesn’t matter because the content has been on farm for months, and uhhh cry about it”
Retail meta feels like it can change pretty easily, depending on weekly affixes, and gear levels. And I think that’s a very reasonable approach to gaming, if it’s something people want: a changing meta, balance changes, differences here and there: Retail has that.
As for Cata Classic:
With all of Classic thus far, we have been given last-patch class balance, which of course is designed around last-patch available gearing. Patch progression would have been nice, but that doesn’t seem to be anything that’s being discussed or even on the table for any future iteration.
We have this current #SomeChanges lineup, and there looks to be a #BunchMoreChanges lineup in the pipeline.
Two things I remember in legion was the leech aura stacking for as many warriors as you had until they changed it. And some cheesy things could be accomplished if the tank buster was blockable thanks to artifact block.
You get shockwave (aoe stun) and leap (great for jumping to adds or kiting) but none of the raid encounters really need this stuff. So yeah just give up on cata warrior tank.
^^^^ is good for some classes but not prot warriors . For prot to be good you need next lvl gear so not going to happen . 12 or so years a go I tanked it all on a prot warrior now my prot farms some times but mostly sets . At this point in cata it was prot pally and prot warrior tanking firelands now its dk dk dk dk dk and more dk .
