I may have lied in my previous post here, I kept going like a madman after 1800. Then 1900, then 2100, and now my little vulpera warrior “Vakoon” has made it to the grand pinnacle of 2400 as a prot warrior.
So I wanted to give my perspective on the class in blitz being i think 2400 is a good place to do so.
Pros:
- massive team fight utility
- overall decent survivability
- can crit with demolish and delete half a players hp, and do “Ok” dmg overall.
- certified chaos gremlin in the right hands
Cons:
- The following classes will “eventually” take you out if you have no help
: ret pally, devoker, feral, ele sham, arcane mage, honorable mentions; sub rogue, frost mage, dh. Everyone else that’s not a healer is not gonna have a good time fighting you. - your mobility may be better then fury or arms, but roots can be the death of you.
- flag carrying is only advisable as a last resort or the other team is about to cap.
- rogues, druids, and a solo fight with a pally can lose you a flag base due to their utility alone. Sadly being prot does not change this.
- groups of casters are your biggest threat in random epics like all other tank classes
- whiney team mates will yell at you and report you usually without “fair” cause in blitz, nor will they often have the patients to explain what you did wrong. I salute to those who had patients with me.
Advice for players intersted in playing prot in blitz:
que up some podcasts, do overworld content while ya wait, sit back-relax if you can, and have fun. Rated pvp like blitz is still a fun game mode to play and can help you gain a better idea of your classes limitations. There will be fights you can’t win and ones you could. Just keep trying, keep learning, and don’t let the odd hatful player in these ranked games stop you from having a good time. But do at the very least try ya best, and take breaks if you go beyond 2 losses in a row.
This is the first time I’ve ever hit 2400, and to do it as a tank class I will admit feels like cheating, but is it really cheating if it works?
idk
That said, I look forward to next season, and I hope I might be able to pull of this feat again. With respect and honor, blood and thunder.
