Prot Warrior: WAY overtuned

Did a +8 a few minutes ago as Demon Hunter DPS…I’m 395 ilvl, The Healer 390ilvl. I noticed the Prot Warrior was 369ilvl…and still wearing a piece of 340ish gear…Figured the dungeon was going to be a pain…Turns out anyone not playing Prot Warrior is trash…

- DMG -
Me (DH-DPS), top 3 skills:
Eye Beam = 3.04 mil,
Trail of Ruin = 2.12 mil
Fel Barrage = 1.93 mil
Total: 7.09 mil

Warrior (TANK), top 3 skills:
Rend = 3.08 mil
Thunderclap = 2.78 mil
Shield Slam = 1.65 mil
Total: 7.51 mil

- HEALING -
Druid (Healing), top 3 skills
Wild G = 1.64 mil
Rejuv = 1.41 mil
1.18m = 1.18mil
Total: 4.23 mil

Warrior (TANK), top 3 skills:
Ignore Pain = 3.32 mil
Leech = 1.49 mil
Indomitable = 1.23 mil
Total: 6.04 mil

  • He never even touched the “Shield Block” or “Shield Wall” skills…
  • I dont think the Warrior HP dipped below 87%, he even had a piece of 340ish gear still on.
  • The healing from the Druid is across everyone in the dungeon.

The second boss bugged out and refused to fly down from the sky, so the M+ was a wash, but above is just from the content we completed…

Tried to look into how these skills are working together to make the Prot Warrior so strong and came across this:
Timing a +20 Naked - Youtube Streamer
He times a +20 naked as a Prot Warrior
-Yes your DPS and Healers are a factor for M+, but he’s still reaching 40-50k DPS and almost 20k healing in some areas…

What does any other Tanking class have that compares to the combination of ‘Ignore Pain’ and ‘Indomitable’, or ‘Rend’ and ‘Thunderclap’?

Warrior base values are overturned, news at 11.

I havn’t looked at their scaling but does prot scale well in comparison to the other classes?

who cares why are wow players always trying to get something nerfed lol. let people enjoy it while they can. there’s always some spec or many broken every expansion. considering there were hardly any prot warriors in bfa or shadowlands compared to every other tank why can’t they have fun for awhile.

You know the biggest joke is? Rend and Thunderclap actually come from 1 ability lol.

imagine spending rage on ignore pain when you could use it for damage XD

Incredibly low key, but also skill issue. lol

If you are a meta class and 25 Ilvls higher and you let yourself get out dpsed by any tank. Thats an you issue. Warriors are OP atm but not to that extreme. Seems like the tank knew how to maximise his CDs and you didnt.

WoW cant be about “Letting people have fun”; they’ve introduced metrics and player evaluations based on performance (M+ Rating). This means everyone should be roughly equal with the biggest differential being determined by player skill/ability. You cant have that when skill isnt a factor.

This 369ilvl Prot Warrior literally joined the dungeon and said he wont be getting explosives since he’s tanking. But you look at his rotation, and cant help but ask, “Why cant you get the explosives?” You’re in auto-pilot with 2 buttons keeping you alive.

Also, I’m tired of hearing about all these warriors playing easy mode, but acting like it’s a “Skill issue”. It’s not, every other tank doing the equivalent of the dungeons are 400ilvl+

It’s a talent genius.

I press X to doubt.

400 item level is enough be doing 20s. Anyone over 372 should be steady farming 11-15 for the crafted sets/next break point (around 385) before going to 16s to the next one (around 400). Warriors feel how tanks should feel. Their design was inspired. Every tank should feel so good to play.

If this is true then I need to try tanking on my prot warrior.

It’s kind of difficult to get an idea of spec balance in content where mobs barely scratch the tank.

Protection Warrior is pretty great, though.

You got us nerfed. Everything is fixed now. Perfectly balanced.

If they nerf warrior it means I’ll have to level whatever the best tank is. And I don’t like leveling I just wanna run keys.

Ahh yea. Jealousy. The real motivation rears it’s ugly green head.

They wouldnt have to use shield except to bonus dmg revenge but the seem to be using rend for threat, and ignore pain with a druid heal thats just magic team tbh.

That’s just a fundamental misunderstanding of how different tanks work mechanically. Warriors mitigate damage. We don’t like taking it. We have tools to not take damage. Other tanks do, but have ways to reverse it by healing, absorbing, or slowing it down.

This explains the rogues with whips. :thinking:

I do not play a prot warrior but I do have a question. Why would a person want the game more difficult for a tank? When I see people cry about X class OP or something like a particular healing class or tanking class doing too well I wonder what the reasoning is. These people you call OP are helping you attain gear faster and easier. If anything I say buff the other tank classes. Play smarter not harder.

Its about time they get some love. Leave warriors tanks alone!
