Prot Warrior to Dual Wield

We saw the change, 6% damage increase hotfix. Great, wonderful, spec fixed… except its not.

One of the very few things I like about classic is the prot warrior going dual wield, and sacrificing mitigation for damage. I feel this concept could work in retail as well. Either in world content, lower keys, trash, or off tanking, dual wield to increase damage but slap on the shield for bosses or hard trash. Would make the class far more fun to play, increase their damage, and make them far more versatile.

Just a thought.

I don’t think this could be balanced. Unless it made you so unreasonably squishy you could only use it in really trivial content, it would become mandatory for anything with a timer, which is almost everything these days.

Tank damage is a lever they have to be careful with.

It is fine as it is, all you do is make people have to type a bunch of text in /macro to set up their prot spec. They simplified certain things to reduce the number of macros people need to make. DW prot would just be typing #showtooltip skillname, /cast skillname, /equipslot 17 itemname an bunch of extra times and then end effect is identical to a 6% damage increase. All you’re getting out of prot DW is a bunch of extra typing one time.

I just re-did my WoW classic macros for my warrior during 9.2 long maintenance, so it is fresh in my mind.

This spec exists: It’s called Fury…

Fury has the ability to slap on a shield and slam but prot can’t use a second weapon and do more DMG.

Makes little sense imo

I think I’d rather see gladiator stance make a return instead.
