Prot Warrior gear

Well, while the servers are down, I would like to ask some advice from you guys. I am leveling up a Prot warrior, currently level 24. I had some nice player come up and hand me 100 gold proving that there are still helpful people out there. So with the 100 gold, I spent about 10 or 15 of it at the AH buying upgraded armor. My question is this though, What dungeons should I be running for tank gear. I am not familiar with the drops of the various bosses and is there one that I should really go after to upgrade my armor/shield/1H weapon? What bosses in particular should I really go after?

Before Level 40 – your tanking gear is mail ‘of the Bear’ pieces. After Level 40, your tanking gear is plate ‘of the Bear’. After Level 40 is when you’ll start seeing more gear that is more itemized for tanking (+defense, +dodge, +parry).

You can run Scarlet Monastery if your server is high population, you can get a lot of good gear there.

I hope you learn or are learning about leveling specs for tanking warriors. You can be dual wield or 2h tanking dungeons while leveling. If you are leveling as deep prot it’s going to be extremely slow and grindy. You will also get scared when you agro groups of mobs instead of one or two at a time.
Your goal should be to go down the fury tree and when things are rough or you find yourself facing off against a boss or elite mob and they feel powerful then you put a shield on. All vanilla content can be tanked in dual wield weapons.(maybe a few naxx options not viable.)
Dual wield while leveling will make things go so quick and leave you way less stressed.
I love warriors which is why I’ve leveled one in every journey in wow. The hardest thing I ever did while playing a warrior was 1-60 as full prot.

Well, first of all, you wouldn’t want to start as protection. This is a junk build until at least 50 when you can get devastate. Until then, you should be arms or fury. Just respec later. But since old dungeons are deserted anyway, you may want to hold off until the 60s where you can tank dungeons in outlands.

Regarding gear, there’s very few “tank” items in the low levels. You’ll just use items with STR/AGI/STA like anyone else. You don’t really need tank gear in this game at all unless you plan to do heroics or raids. You can do all normal dungeons with basically any plate and shield. So
 don’t worry about it.

It would be nice if doomers like yourself would stop spreading misinformation. You dont like the game we get it. I literally leveled from 20-60 running at least one dungeon every day and doing quests in between. I tanked healed and dps’d anything that came my way in a Ret leveling spec. Just because you are too dense to open LFG chat doesn’t mean people aren’t running dungeons.

It’s worth it mention that you get stats you might not realize from str and agi.

  • Paladins, Shaman and Warriors with a Shield equipped have a chance to block damage

  • You gain armor and dodge for every point of Agility

For tanking? You’re going to want hit rating and expertise. This going to be rough to find leveling up. If you’re gear hunting, try AtlasLoot. it shows all the items that drop from everywhere. Crafted, faction, and pvp as well.

Did your guild not help you with this?
Also stay out of the ah.
