Prot Pally Heal Nerf

What comps do you like for Prot 2v2?

War or Ww. My best is WW

I’m extremely displeased with Blizzard/Activision choice to reduce healing and damage created by protection paladins. I’m pretty sure this is mostly contributed to PVP. The only way a protection paladin can heal more is due to AoE healing. They HAVE to pick certain abilities in the PVP tree in order to share that healing. When someone heals them or they heal themselves, that healing is sent out to a few players. IF Blizzard/Activision dislikes it, then they should not screw up PVE. I’ve said it over and over again, “Blizzard should SPLIT PVE and PVP. Do NOT intertwine the two because it screws everything up.” If someone questions that statement then, you don’t understand that there are certain abilities that get screwed due to PVP.

It was a PvP only nerf.

If that’s true then… Why are protection paladins always running away from mobs in mythic +s? They’re extremely vulnerable in PVE. With 18+ vers, it feels like my character is constantly getting face smashed. At a 5+ mythic, the health of my protection paladins is all over the place. Protection paladins will agree with my statement because it’s true. So, if it is pvp, why do protection paladins seem even weaker?

Paladin

  • Holy
    • Divine Favor (Honor Talent) cooldown increased to 30 seconds (was 25 seconds), and now increases cast speed by 30% (was 60%).
  • Protection, Retribution
    • Word of Glory’s healing has been reduced by 20% in PVP situations.

Show me your protection paladin, at 60, with 195+ ilvl gear, and then we can talk Crikey.

Eh? Don’t shoot the messenger bud. I’m just showing you the nerf was only for PvP. Or at least, what was stated by blizzard.

Are you suggesting they broke paladins self healing in PvE?

They’ve been broke in PVE. It’s just getting worse Crikey. They’ve unfortunately been facing issues with the inability to survive mobs. When it comes to mythic +s and raids, protection paladins are thrown to the side. Why? Their shield of the righteous is utterly useless. Their shield, just by itself, it utterly useless because it barley mitigates damage. You might as well not have a shield at all.

Protection paladins, overall, are in a very bad position.

I just watched the freaking awc where they had a prot pally healer

Are you trolling?

I think you’re trolling now

Agree with this as ret. in pve wog is healing substantially lesser. Managed to only solo torghast twisting corridors up to layer 5… prior to nerf wog was healing much more.

Layer 5 took me nearly 3-4 hours run and wog can’t keep me alive.

Managed to finally complete twisting corridors 6.7.8 as a group.

I haven’t noticed any difference in PvE as Ret. The nerf clearly stated it was a PvP nerf.

You might be attributing your struggles in Torghast to that nerf but that’s not the real reason.

Are u a ret paladin or shaman ret ? I didn’t know shamans have ret spec ?

I’m a ret shaman :joy:

Seriously, WoG is the same in PvE for Ret.

And then AWC proved you wrong :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Because being out of range of a mob is a whopping 100% DR on melee attacks. This isn’t unique to prot, all tanks are kiting.

It’s on the spikier side, but it also brings incredible damage and has a fantastic toolkit.

Looking at your Prot spec, assuming that’s what you’re bringing to M+; you’re missing First Avenger, which provides a ton of absorption on trash packs and offers great synergy with Divine Toll. You’re also missing Consecrated Ground, which, as mentioned above, allows you to simply walk away from melee enemies. They can’t smash your face if they’re out of range. I would also recommend Final Stand on weeks like this. Your stat allocation is also crazy lopsided.

That said, none of that would account for you getting crushed in +5s. The only thing I could guess would be that you’re doing something seriously wrong, like not managing your Necrotic stacks.

Haven’t noticed a difference on mine.

I haven’t played in about 2 weeks. I’ve pushed up a few mythics to try and get an item but the drop rate utterly sucks. Right now, I’m just not attracted to the game. Will I 100% give up the game? Probably not but, I’m taking some time to reflect on what I want to do next.
