Prot Pally Addons

What are some need to have pally addons? Been missing a lot and just could some help. first time tanking as a prot pally. Thanks!
Or any tanking Addon would love the help

I do not find that my Prot pally really needs any addons… maybe weak auras to help with a few things but they are pretty straight forward I think.

I agree.

Quality of life add-ons and WQ tracker is all I need. Deadly boss mods helps too for new content you haven’t tanked yet. Or just go watch a YouTube video of the fight if DBM makes you lag.

Just keep aggro on every mob while keeping steady progression through the instance without loosing the group. Know the fights and when to pull, move, kite, ECT… Then lead the group to victory by making sure they can and do their parts.

Go DPS/healer in an instance and watch other tanks as they go through them if you want a front seat show on what to do in the fights. Then tank them yourself.

If your a returning player like me just reroll a new character and re-learn everything you want to try. I leveled another pally to 40 just to get the feel for it again then went back to my main pally so I would be good at it again.

I actually highly suggest heal bot for tanking because there are so many opportunities to heal others or cleanse debuffs. Using heal bot makes it so much easier and faster.

I’m not saying this is a bad idea, but personally healbot does weird things on my system. VuhDo works so much better imho.

The only addons I would recommend are deadly boss mods to help remind you of mechanics and also I dont remember the name but there is an addon that helps with routes to take through dungeons. It shows each trash pack on the map too.

@providence-hyjal If you remember the name of that addon that would be cool. I hadnt heard of such a thing. Do you know if it is programmed for M+?

I highly recommend the addon Plater. Clean target plates make it easy to target the correct mob, every time, especially if you need to interrupt. Also, it helps me to see if there’s a rare mob in a particular cave without having to clear the whole damn thing.

I use
DBM
Decursive to help with poison/disease where I can and save healer mana
ThreatPlates - helps to see threat on large packs of mobs and helps switch to one about to eat a dps/healer
Weakauras to track cd’s
Not an addon but I keep a couple of focus macros as well. One to HoP my healer, Sac my Cotank in raids etc.

Weird… This posted under my last logged in character.

I use ElvUI for frames and nameplates. There are others that fill that role too. Also using weak auras for my cooldowns and dungeon warnings, along with DBM.

Method Dungeon Tools is probably tbe M+ Addon you’re thinking of. Has a map and mob %
