b/c its a protection spec meant for tanking. u can 100% tank trash packs in raids to or hold mobs for certain boss fights in raids. i lvl as aoe prot paladin. and ive been hearing talk of hc guilds maybe taking a prot paldin for trash packs since trash is scary in hc
