Hey there,
Final stand threat pulse is not working correctly leaving some melee members of the party with a place on the floor.
Is it possible to modify the talent to cast hand of reckoning on all targets within the radius of the talent to force their attack on the paladin tank and prevent my team members from instantly gaining threat and dying?
Can you give examples? The only time Final Stand fails is if the enemy is out of range. The taunt range of the talent is fairly small.
I don’t run FS and I have 0 threat issues. Divine toll is an OP aggro snapper.
It’s not about normal operations threat. OP was asking about Divine Shield losing agro even with Final Stand enabled.
I’d have to try it but like previously stated it has a range and outside they’ll just run to highest threat like normal bubble.
I was under the assumption that it simultaneously casts the taunt with the bubble (8s taunt vs 3s HoR) and not a ticking taunt so if you missed the mobs from range then you’d have to cancel the bubble and try to gain threat asap.
The issue is running final stand at all. If you want dps go rp, survival go sw. Fs is super niche and not useful for most players/content.
I have been running Final Stand since season 1 simply because I pug 90% of my keys and it is good to have. Some pulls I do with Divine Shield in mind.
I haven’t run it in a good few months (since 2set really since between urh relics and block chance having faster wings and ardent and kings has just ben better) but back when I did run it the main issue usually was with one specific mob, usually a miniboss type elite, in each pack. It would snap threat off all the little elite and non elite adds except for mobs of this type. This also applied to bosses. I believe the reason for this is the threat table of these mobs just works different. Bubble basically brings your threat down to zero and erases all the threat you’ve built up on this boss type mob but does not erase the threat the dps in question have built up. So Final Stand generates a finite amount of threat that in essence taunts the boss type mob but usually doesn’t supercede the accumulated threat the dps have built up. If you taunt the boss type mob this can be avoided most times as taunting will bring your threat at least marginally higher than the dps accumulated threat. For non elites and non boss mobs it doesn’t matter as much as aoe does not generate as much threat as hectic cleave off one mob.
This is backed up too by how I’ve experienced threat on a mage. If I just cast big aoe spells it’s easy for the tank to rip threat back off either with FS or just their damage. If I singularly hit one mob, usually as arcane but also as fire sometimes with fire blast bust, that one mob will have massive threat built up towards me and will effectively ignore the tank until it’s taunted no matter how much big aoe the tank is doing. As a dps there I’ve accumulated threat faster than the tank has and the degree of threat is larger towards me due to the big hits/crits.
That’s fine like I said it is niche. It doesn’t change the fact that for most players it is not a good pick.
Yea, specifically in Mythic plus scenarios on trash mobs. I’m not saying you will never run into a situation where you would need to clear stacks of necrotic on a boss. But it does trivialize necrotic weeks. For everyone else who posted, I am aware of the range and how bubble functions primarily. I was just looking for others who may have faced these issues and making a possible suggestion to improve the talent.
It is niche and is picked only if needed. Was not really discussing if its a good pick or not. Just trying to determine if its a bug or a flaw in the ability design.
