Prot Pala worst spec in PvP of all classes?

Since DF, we’ve been the lowest rated class in terms of damage and fun to play. I still remember the good times of BC or WotLK… Today we are a shadow of our former selves.

For other tank specs, the damage penalty has been removed in TWW, and for Prot Paladin??

We still have damage reduced around 50%, healing is reduced around 50%, AND at the same time incoming damage is increased by 50%!

Pathetic.

Nice contribution, but completely pointless. Spec is available and approved for the game mode. I pay for a service and want something in return. Arena can be deleted, that doesn’t help the balance, neither does template armor… Battlegrounds is supposed to be fun and in its current state everything is just desperate. HP bars move in micro steps and Prot Paladin can contribute next to nothing.

Pally tank has been the worst …sometimes brewmaster takes the honours….wow can’t balance this game to save their lives so you will never see a paladin tank be good in bgs. Maybe if it were just node fighting but flag games lawl…stun…dead

I mean the most fun I had in shadowlands was running down guardian druids as a prot Paladin. The most ridiculous interaction between prot pally and Brambles… Good times

They aren’t good now though

It’s in an awful state, coupled with the fact that their primary defensives are immunities, which can’t be used while carrying a flag.

I’m unfamiliar with what you’re talking about here.

and letting prot pals use bubbles while flag carrying should be implemented. It would increase their overall value because right now id rather have a pylon sitting in mid than a prot pally in an fc map. it would force people to adopt different roles…spriest and arms wars would be a little better for it too for shatter and md. get those bubbles off. I just don’t see bubs being a game breaker. monks and priests have bubbles all day but pallys with a dispellable bubble? heck no!

Agreed on all accounts, Prot Paladin is tuned VERY unfavorable and I’d add, Paladin as a whole class is missing most of the helpful pvp tools. There is no place for a Prot Paladin to feel useful doing no damage, dying the second it gets Forbearance and its defensives dispelled, healing for nothing and stunned or feared anyway so it couldnt heal if it was tuned to do so. Edit* saw prot paladin in the wild. In a random BG he was second in overall healing. Not too shabby. Damage was low as expected.

Yes and literally for years now…bear tanks get consecutive favourable play. Thats why I stopped playing Rbgs ingot so sick of waiting for a bear tank to come along and the higher your cr the harder it was to find a good one. 6 tanks in the game and only one was worth anything in rated bgs

Tanks should have taunt in PVP.

No wierd modifiers, just standard taunt for a second or two.

I’m having a great time! I’m fact, the best time I’ve had in BGs in a looong time. I’ve been playing PvProtadin since Wrath.

I respectfully disagree. I’ve ran many flags for the Win, cap and defend nodes, disrupt other team (see a group of enemies try to get the Pally Tank while the majority of my team work the objectives for the Win :rofl:…)

When FC, you can use Divine Steed and not drop flag. With the right talents, you get 2 times Divine Steed for 9 seconds each. That can cover a lot of ground.

You can also use Hand of Freedom while carrying flag.

See you on the Battleground!

Tanks are the foundation of PvP. They are the frontline warriors controling the battlefield doing the hard work protecting the Dps and Healers pushing back the enemy.

Your statement makes zero sens and PvP doesn’t work very well without Tanks.

With that said Prot War PvP is where it is at in TWW.

Prot Pal fell from grace after being Gods in 8.3 BFA. Definitely the most fun I ever had on Prot Pal being Block capped and reflecting every spell with holy shield.

TWW Tank winners seems to be Prot War and Brew so far. Brew burst was sooo good it actually just got a nerf in PvP.

As someone who has only mained Prot War/Pal I am loving Prot War mountain thane and is the most fun I’ve had since WoD/Legion on Prot War. They can do insane sustain healing while Aoeing everything down. Then some huge shield charges/executes. Lots of fun especially in WPvP.

Prot War got back MoP Second wind and the WotLK built in magic reduction for D stance again. Ontop of the overall PvE Tank changes (which buffs tanks in PvP) Prot War tool kit and play style is in an amazing spot.

Stupid comment. Blizz themselves said they wanted any spec to work in pvp, even tanks. So be quiet with your 2012 nonsense.

The Warhammer MMO did tanks right in PvP. When they taunted someone, the person did like 75% less damage to anyone else they attacked and +20% damage to the tank. Tanks also had collision so you could not run through them. If a tank backed you into a corner you either fought or died.

Prot paladins are able to block spell damage, and if you talented into it you could retaliate everytime you blocked spell damage. Brambles was spell damage, so everytime the guardian got hit, it would shoot spell damage at the prot paladin which had a chance to be blocked and send it back at the guardian’s brambles which would shoot back etc etc etc. If you blessing of summered in this interaction, it would double the amount of hits you threw into the druid. Eventually, you’d shoot enough at the druid to start an infinite loop between you and the druid and someone was guaranteed gonna die. I built my paladin to have high block chance and to live through this interaction, so if the guardian had brambles you could run them down and kill them at will. Most had no idea what was happening, it wasn’t until you ran into higher RBG teams that you notice them spec out of brambles lol

I also found a raid trinket that when popped would stop a certain amount of damage from each hit. It wasn’t a lot of damage from each hit so it wasn’t really an insane trinket, but it would completely stop all damage from brambles - it still counted as a blocked spell even though it did no damage so the loop would continue but I was invincible from the loop. I was a guardian druid killing machine

Unfortunately they fixed it in dragonflight, the loop was stopped :(((

In BFA I used to 1 shot Guardian druids solo defending bases on my Prot pal so they stopped using brambles. I ran pure mastery so had block cap and would pop wings and cause a damage feedback loop with brambles. It would hit the bear like a few 100 times in 2 sec and flopped over.

It’s a shame Prot pal is so bad now and how they got gutted each expansion. They need to have CC immunity during steed again. Prot pal needs a lot of things. I’ve retired my Prot pal permanently and I used to play at 2600 MMR in RBGs. They are just not viable or competitive anymore since BFA.
