I am putting salvation on everyone except the healer.
I am keeping ret aura up
I kind of wanted to spam rank 1 of consecrate because I found I can do that for days without any mana issues but I due to aggro issues am spamming rank 3 which ooms in 2 or 3 casts meaning I have to drink every single pull
yet some big _alls DPS is always pulling aggro and having to tank a half of a mobs hp.
secondly the guide I was using seem to state that int is a useless stat, I donāt have anything currently with int but a green boe 6+int +6str ring dropped really wondering if its worth equiping over the +3 to all stats or the 9+stam 4+spirit ring
lastly is there any merit in equiping a 2h weapon for the occasional ungrouped single target mob fight that comes up? as prot no abilities seem to scale with weapon damage so whichever weapon says it has the highest dps would be best right ?
tldr suggestions for aggro, and is int any good to a prob paladin?
Are you keeping Seal of Righteousness up and tab smacking mobs?
So far as mana, I have to drink a lot after big pulls while tanking with Pally. If they group is insistent on aoeing everything down while ignoring runners and pulling everything in sight, ya Iāll probably be drinking after every pull. Still though, holding agro really hasnāt been much of an issue, it just takes a bunch of mana.
I wouldnāt care what any guide said, if I didnāt have enough mana to be able to use the abilities I need to tank a group, it would be time to do something to increase mana pool or mana regen, or both.
Is ret aura and seal of righteousness on a crusader judged target along with Salvation on dps isnāt enough for single target threat, something is going horribly wrong and Iām not sure what to say.
Let the dps know you are doing all you can for threat on your end, and they need to watch threat on their end. If that means they tank, let them tank and donāt get worried about it.
I was judging light because I was told it generates threat, I try to run SoR but having to sometimes attack with mana up because consecration is making me OOM mid pulls sometimes.
and no mostly dps that pull aggro are either warriors or rets maybe warlocks on the wrong target
The Righteous fury tooltip says holy damage done, but some are claiming now itās any holy spell, so maybe Iām not in the know on that.
Single target I just judge Crusader right off the bat, leave SoR up, and judge it on CD. I might toss out a Max consecration too on the pull just help out, but that almost always is enough to keep agro.
If dps is out-threating you on that, itās honestly their problem and they need to figure out what to do to prevent it.
Other than Salavation, you canāt control their threat, itās their job not yours.
Iām leveling a pally alt to tank dungeons with. Iām probably going to use Blessing of Wisdom for some time (heās only level 16 atm) for mana reasons.
disregard what someone might say is āoptimalā or āthe only way to goā. youāre not min maxing to kill kelāthuzad youāre in leveling dungeons, if you have an issue with mana for example then build around increasing your mana or regen. canāt hold aggro while oom after all
@Vellar I was doing that for the longest time, but soon as you have sanctuary its ātheā blessing to use.
for solo stuff though I found I can judge and use seal of wisdom, spam consecrate rank 1, max rank heal when I need without ever having to worry about running out of mana.
Put blessing of salvation on everyone else, and have ret aura up. Do not spec consecration, imp ret aura is better. The mana cost of consecration makes it useless.
If you keep seal of light applied to your tgt and up on yourself, you should be able to hold aggro fairly easy.
thats interesting, you are the first I have seen suggesting imp ret aura, I think even my really old guide back in the day had me using consecration, it is pretty deep in the ret tree, what level is it effective at ? at some point consec has to be better because it scales with spellpower and the aura dosnāt ?
do you have to tell the party to let the mobs beat on you a bit before they attack?
I had another guide telling me that holy shield was the god level aggro talent but idk I respecd twice already, it was worse without consec
I think 0/30/21 is the best pala tank build. Like i said concetration is too much mana. Def go 30 into prot first, sadly as the tank you will have to mark skull x and cc for the plebs. If you are leveling dont respec. Im going to be shockadin, holy ret, but ive also tanked holy spec. I have consecration but i only use it as an oh shoot button if say a second group aggros. I actually got praised for tanking, group had no idea i was holy lol.
I recall at some point in wrath paladins were either ā¦
tanking in holy spec with tank gear or tanking in holy gear with tank specā¦ I forget which but seem to remember that being cited as why melee based hybrids werenāt getting spellpower anymore.
anyway back on topic, someone told me open with max rank concecration then for the rest of the fight use rank 1 or 2 and it seem to work like a charm.
ps:what was this holy tank build ? and what kind of gear us used to make it work, plate healing ?
ok I use my max lvl of consecā¦
cast seal of right, judge my MARKED target.
consec
cast seal of wisdom
consec
until the pack is down.
I use blessing of wisdom and sanctuary for myself ( wisdom for fast moving group, sanc for orange mob group)
everyone gets spec appropriateā¦ casters get blessing of wis. or kings for meleeā¦
everyone starts on the same marked target.
start AOE after first consec finishes and is recast
mobs stay on me.
IF someone cant comply with the order of things they get BoP and a suggestion to follow marked first, aoe after consec is recastā¦
mana stays fairly consistent, on lower lvl mobs I replenish from blessing of wisdom and seal of wisdom procs
on higher, im drinking every other time heals and casters are. BUT I dont waste keeping 5 min buffs up on trash. my heals gets wisdom consistently ( when I recast on me) everyone else sees buffs on boss fights or long ones ( the temple adds on ZF)
IMO, learn to manage and youll find you are more effective than warsā¦ or ā¦ go roll a warā¦
this is the type of guy that leaves a bad rep with healers. ( he was squishy and didnt keep aggro on anything)

holy shield is mana inefficient for little return. consec is AOE TPS,
once you hit 60 and get greaterblessingsā¦
youll learn you can hold aggro with 3 mages aoeing away and casting greater blessing on them consistentlyā¦ youll do no DPS but you will have all the threat ( some weird thing makes greather blessings make TONS of TPS)
It have tried proct at 60, and you have not. I have never seen a proct pally not drink after every pull or lost aggro. You are not even in 50 just shut up
I tried to level one up and bear dosnāt seem comparable to paladin, I pull 3 mobs with a paladin I can just keep healing myself, I pull 3 mobs with bear I get low I come out of bear (or stay in bear) I die
