Prot nerfs are an overreaction

Blizzard, please reconsider the nerfs to protection warrior. This seems like an overreaction to other player’s complaints, when in reality, prot was where it needed to be.

You’ve done the following with your nerf:

  1. Made our class/spec less appealing to groups by reducing damage. We already struggle by bringing little utility as compared to DH, pallys, and druids.

  2. Shield Slam and Revenge are threat generating abilties. Reducing the damage is going to affect keeping threat off of high DPS, and could make M+ pulls more challenging. Blood DKs obviously excel in this area for example.

  3. We are not overperforming in keys. I could see a small nerf if there was a narrative that Prot was the meta. But you nerfed a class that does not have strong representation because of the lack of utility.

  4. Our mitigation is much more about timing. You’re already making it so we have to choose between survivabilty and damage with the changes you made earlier to our rage generation in higher keys. Reducing our DPS makes it harder to compete with tanks with more consistent mitigation.

According to WoWhead, the data is that Single-Target is 5% loss, and AOE is a 12% loss. That seems like an overreaction.

Why not make more small incremental changes like you did with other classes like Fire Mage, or Mistweaver? You could have added a small utility change as well to compensate for the damage loss.

It’s all their part of scheme to delete prot war and promote VDH/prot pally. They nerfed rage generation and buffed dmg on PTR with a reason of reducing APM and choice between dmg and survivability. Now they nerfed dmg because low key prots don’t need to care about survivability. Generally, we got rage nerf for being the worst tank in s1.
Prot pally was overtuned in s1, they nerfed -10% parry, and a good chunk of dmg.
VDH is immortal in s2, they nerfed -5% parry. What a joke.

a kicker to your comment about mistweaver - their damage nerf didn’t even go in today… let that sink in on how blizz view’s prot war

yeah, I can understand the need for a small nerf but this feels a little overdone.

Especially when you consider we offer absolutely dick all to our groups.

That’s what i keep telling people that complain that we are doing way more dmg then them is that other then the dmg we don’t really offer anything to the group.

DK’s have slappy hands, death grip, antimagic zone, group antimagic shell, vamp aura/speed, mass slow field.

DH’s have Aoe grab, Aoe fear, Aoe silance, imprison, Aoe dodge field, cheat death, extra magic dmg taken buff

Druid’s have stampeding roar, hibernate, soosth, typhoon, vortex, battle rez, mark of the wild, cleanse

Pally’s have, aura’s, battle rez, group silence, sacrifce, root/slow remover, cheat death, cleanse

Monk’s have dave(the ox statue), tiger’s lust, paralysis, ring of peace, cleanse, extra physical dmg taken buff

Warrior’s have battle shout, commanding shout, disrupting shout, berzerker shout.

We got shafted so hard when it comes to untilitys since 2 of them we have to give up stuff to even get in disrupting and berzerker shout so you will rarely if ever see anyone run them while every other class can quite easily get most if not all of their’s super easy all we had was our dmg and that’s been hit again and it seems that we even got over nerfed since tide of battle is ment to be a 7% buff but it really a 5% buff.

Yep, all we have is the basic stuff. Damage, Sustain and Mobility.

So we need to be good at being a basic vanilla chad or we became useless. Cause other tanks have all the utility in the world and have the tools do deal with those modern WoW e-sport mechanics.

We only have our manhood.
