Yall can say skill issue but warriors are getting 2 hit and they cant hold threat, im looking at these forum and it just looks like a place to whinge. but i honestly dont want to play my warrior anymore and it takes to long to level a character
A good prot warrior wonât die super easily. In fact, theyâre superior to other tanks if they know how to play their spec with some rather decent gear.
A lot of the people complaining about being severely nerfed either:
-
Donât know how to tank as a warrior via marking & focus fire.
-
Think that dual-wielding swords, as Fury, is a tanking spec.
I remember tanking, while prot, in TBC decades ago⌠mark targets and spam sunder. Easy.
Except none of that is true. im doing all those things, heroic/Dev spam is the only thing that hold aggro and thats only 1 target, tab targeting even 2 adds is insanely hard to maintain aggro
Sunder first mob, taunt the second or third that gets aggroâd. Then sunder the other 2 mobs, before re-sundering the first.
Rotate your sunders. Drop a revenge or shield slam, when possible.
Itâs the hardest tank to play, but itâs powerful if your teamâs capable of adhering to the marking system.
Warriors should be the tankiest tanks if played properly. They bring improved demo and thunderclap, have defensive cooldowns and higher max hp and mitigation % than a paladin.
Can spec into piercing howl too to kite forever without help.
Wonât lie, seeing warriors thinking theyâll face tank heroics as dual wielding fury warriors, and then IMMEDIATELY get clapped by a bog lord is funny.
Nah brother you KNOW NOTHING! you know what you should do? you should listen to all these NON WARRIOR players and do what they tell you to do
âŚ.they have ruined the game.
I tanked TBC, pre-nerf, as a prot warrior when TBC first came out.
It was harder, back then, than it is now.
Then quit. They arenât rebalancing classes
bob, this is 2026. the dps breed that plays now is not the same. your projection from what youâve experienced 2000 years ago doesnât stand.
you donât have time to do all that before dps rushes in to parse on trash mobs in a dungeon.
As a mage when im doing heroics with a prot war they just pull and i blizz so they can kite in and out so they dont get 2 shot.
Good warriors will go hit the caster if they on me so my blizz isnt interrupted.
Then kick them if they fail to abide by focus fire and marking. Simple as that. DPS are disposable while tanks are harder to find.
I have leeway, as a modern-day healer, and the same rules apply. If they choose to pull a mob while Iâm at 10% mana, without providing me with an opportunity to drink, then they end up on an /ignore list. Iâll take 3 âuseless roguesâ (which they arenât, but they sure do feel that way by the meta-loving min-maxxers) over any Min-Maxxer who treats TBC like itâs retail.
Iâve healed dozens of dungeons, in the past week, where people abided by the âmarkingâ and âfocus-fireâ method.
When people make a post on the forums, It would be great if they give an example of what happened with detail, instead of just âThey die in two hitsâ. Tell your tank to stop wearing cloth.
Thatâs objectively wrong in TBC. Druid is better single target, and Paladin is infinitely better AoE.
I kick any tank that isnt able to hold aggro in heroics. Tanks really arnt that hard to find. I genuinely have no idea why yâall canât find tanks. Itâs better to kick the bad tank thatâs is trying to sunder armor mobs before we press buttons for whatever reason and wait 5 ish minutes to find another one. Rather than deal with it and take an extra hour in the dungeon. Like fr. If we CC 2 mobs of the 4 and you loose aggro on skull because you are trying to 5 stack sunder. Youâre getting kicked and replaced by a druid or paly.
Here is a tip for you. SHIELD SLAM. SS 1ST and ss often. Never miss a sheild slam. It is your number one threat generater. Ss. Ss. Ss. Use devestate when on cooldown and revenge when it pops. Shield slam. Learn it. Love it.
You will miss some due to dodge parry and miss. Make expertise a priority and get hit capped. All so you never miss a shied slam.
Oh god, that is some terrible tip : DONT do whatever he said : Sunder first mob, taunt the second or third that gets aggroâd. Then sunder the other 2 mobs, before re-sundering the first.
1 sunder on a mob wont do sh*t, You SS and try to revenge if itâs up skull. If you only sunder the skull once and tab target you will lose aggro to everything. You tab target SS if you have good aggro on skull
Look it up cupcake. Shield salm is top threat ability. Shield slam 1st target and you will have solid threat. Then tab and get one sunder on next 2 targets before returning to the skull target. I have tanked warrior in original tbc. And 2nd and many pservers. If you would like to challenge me i will gladly accept. Bring a notepad to take notes though. Shield slam is the single most important ability for holding threat as a war tank. Dont make a fool of yourself and pretend it isnt. Shield slam = prot warriors best friend.
Oh and i did not mention thunderclap for initial threat of pack. But that should be obvious. If you are chqrging in or not , get a thunderclap off then immediatly shield slam and if that shield slam hits , nobody is pulling threat on that target which gives you a few seconds to get some sunders on other targets. When shield slam is back up use it on the target that the crazy dps are targeting because we all know, just because you marked a skull target there will still be that rogue or hunter going all out on a different mob.
You realize we are saying the same thing right ?
