IO is better defensive-wise. But you don’t play MT for defensive purposes. If you prefer being tankier, stick with Colossus.
Besides, while UF is inferior to IO in defensive burst, it offers some defensive values. More claps = more Thunder blast. You also press less revenge, more claps, meaning more rage to spend on IP.
IO is super niche, I used it some on heroic Gally and maybe Mug’zee because we were light on healers. The good thing about UF is how it works with Thunderlord/Booming Voice. Way more Thunderclaps = More Demo Shouts.
IO is the colossus choice BC you get avatar during shield wall.
UF is the thane choice bc it uber primes your thunderblasts.

I thought Thane was inherently tankier due to it’s % reduction in hero talents?
Colossus has passive 5% DR, high up time 10% DR from demolish on top of very high self-healing.
MT’s high rage generation is mostly cancelled out by Colossus’ 20% bigger IP.
Seems like colossus is just overall “worse” this season sadly right?
It’s not worse. It’s tankier but has worse dmg profile than MT. But this season prioritizes dmg over survivability.
Anyway, until you are fully decked in 4p, colossus is still the best option in both raid and m+.
