200 copper prospected, 40 attempts, only 8 gems. That’s less than 25%, even with speccing into prospecting. So bad and nothing I can do. I make more gold selling the ore to buy gems, but this could be fixed to at least 50-60% rate. Make Jewelcrafting not depressing. Please Blizzard.

Same with crushing.
I think the talents and tools are bugged and not being applied.
I prospected 1k ore, 500 on a character with Blue tools/accessories rank 5 and Maxed Prospecting and crushing. The other 500 on a character with only green tools/accessories and no talents. I got about the same on both in gems and then in dust.

Skill does not increase the amount of gems nor dust. Just their quality if you have enough skill.
Only prospecting pro last node has any effect on amount of gems. It does work, but its proc chance is really low.
The the chance is so low that its not noticeable from just not having it.
