Prospecting - help!

I am specced into prospecting - 20/20, all the little bubbles filled for the ores. I am almost 50% filled in on the crushing one.

Can someone explain to me why when I prospect I am STILL mostly getting rocks. Not gems. Rocks. I have blown through an absurd amount of ore. I am buried in rocks my friends. I have so few gems to show for it.

I can concentrate and, get ready for it, get a single high quality rock. It wasn’t like this in TWW. I could get gems like no other in TWW.

I can barely get gems, DESPITE being specced for prospecting. What am I doing wrong?

To add to to this, I can crush gems and BARELY get anything from it. I am specced in it and I swear there’s no difference. Any ideas?

blizzard please buff prospecting or let me redo my points. there’s something wrong with the rng. the loss is massive trying to get these stupid gems and dust.

Stop putting your points in it now. It’s literally broken. I have 104 points in processor and I still get 1 gemdust per crushing and get gems only occasionally from prospecting. It’s broken and it is jacking up the price of ore. JC is a money pit this expac and I am tempted to drop it even though I am maxed out in every expac but it’s too late.

Both prospecting and crushing were pretty f-in’ busted to start TWW too so is it even a shock at this point? :pensive_face:

It’s definitely not just on your end.

Anyone who’s fully specced into prospecting/crushing is screwed at the moment. The only way to make some good income or get what you want is spending concentration.

Does this mean it’s better to level alchemy and transmute the gems from fish?

I suspect so. On my server, a single low end gem dust is 800g and the cheapest blue gems are 600ish.

I can do the JC version of gem xmute and it’s maybe 5?

because the drop rates are horrible, even worse with crushing.

Thats why the Gemdust is going for 500 to 1k gold each.

Its unknown if the rates are truly to blame or the talents and gear are bugged and not affecting the rates. I think its the second, I seem to get the same rates no matter the quality of gem.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the knowledge points literally did nothing.

This is kind of what I suspect. I didn’t notice a huge difference between no KP then with fully specced in prospecting and crushing.

Still insane variance where you can get 3-5 gems in a row. Then streaks where you get nothing but glass and duskshrouded stone for 8 prospects in a row.
