Pros and Cons Enh Shaman

Hello Friends,

After starting college, I took a break from WoW to focus on school. I decided to return but I’m also starting an MSW program, so I’ll have limited time to invest. Does anyone have any pros or cons about Enh Shaman in PVP? The other option would be rogue. I was thinking of doing both, but I’d really like to just focus on one character to master because of time constraints and the fact I’m a below average pvper! Are shamans viable in pvp? Also, how do shamans and rogues compare when it comes to their skill cap and skill ceiling?

I never played the original TBC so I have limited experience!

Thanks!

If you want to PvP—play a rogue.

Enh shaman just gets kited and bursted too hard…whereas rogues are one of the best PvP classes throughout the whole expansion.

Play a rogue if you are serious about pvp.

Enh for PvE sure, but I would have rerolled if I cared to pvp.

Enhance is one of the funnest spec/classes I’ve ever played in my entire WoW career.

“Be serious about pvp” the above posters say about playing rogue.

Play what you want to play dude. That’s what the game is all about. If you find that remotely in Enhance, then do it. The enhance community is pretty chill too on discord.

I have 70s on both of these and they are my most played. I can tell you that enhance shaman is mostly a dungeon/raid class. It is quite bad at BGs/arena. Rogue is the opposite. The class is bad for raiding but subtlety is among the best builds for killing enemy players.

I was originally raiding rogue and brought up enhance shaman to fight players… the exact opposite of what they are good at. I suffered on both fronts. After switching them, things couldn’t be better. Ask for more details if you like.

I will say this is not entirely wrong. Enhance definitely becomes awesome at pvp in wrath though.

Enhance is absolutely viable in pvp, but not as flexible as a rogue. Its a ton of fun in BGs and can be great in arena. The problem with arena is you are very restricted on comps that you can play if you want to reach any type of decent rating. 2v2 is out. 1-2 comps in 3v3. 5v5 would have to be a melee cleave.
If you are hoping to get gladiator or 2.2k plus, consider rogue. You have many more comps that you can play in every bracket. Being said, rogue has a very high skill cap now so if you arent prepared to have 50 keybinds and 20 macros, you probably wont make it far. Where as enhance will be more easy mode within the few viable comps you have. Essentially just drop totems, interrupt with shocks, and beat down your target.
My enhance is my alt and I have more fun sitting at 1600-1800 with him than I do with my 2k mage.

So many classes get proper love in Wrath. It’s going to be a challenge picking one.

And yes Enhance gets what it needs to get better in PvP by a lot.

Hex
Maelstrom
Wolves?

Good stuff.

You definitely don’t need 50 keybinds on a rogue unless you go all in with several dozens of arena specific macros.

Rogues probably has the least amount of keybind required of all the classes. Out of my 7 level 70s, my rogue is the one with the most empty keybinds with warrior being the only other one with some keybinds being unused out of my ~60 keybinds.

Rogue isn’t that much harder to play at a high skill cap as other classes, aside from using sap properly, it’s pretty low IQ to play. You have so many get out of jail free cards compared to other class the only matchups you’ll need any kind of skills against are other rogues and maybe warriors.

That and

Stoneclaw totem(15% Absorb shield of your HP)
Totems becomes usable while silenced
Wind Shear and its 30yd range with PVP gloves
Frost Shock is a root when the target is 15yds away
Earthen Power which means earthbind totem will dispel snares off you

Enhance and shamans in general become insanely fun

Wind Shear is finally introduced in Wrath?

Good stuff. Yeah, shamans really need it.

Play what you enjoy, but be warned, enhance in arena is very frustrating. If you want to play 2s don’t do enhance.

If you want to play one of the most fun 3s comp (Turbo), then play enhance.

Right now though, enh gets countered by mages/rogues/warriors which is the only dps classes that are played in arena, as that is the meta.

so much wrong with your entire reply. That’s why there’s so many bad rogues out there. Seriously 9 out of 10 rogues don’t play the class properly. And I can tell by what you said you are one of them.

Or you just suck at every other class if you think rogue is somehow harder.

rogue takes lots of calculations with combo points and understanding what skills to use maximizing your energy or you are done for. It’s not just spamming SS or hemo then running and vanishing when you’re in trouble but your comment basically told me that’s the type of rogue style you play. Which is what most rogues do. There’s a few rogues on YT that show what the class really is capable of.

Pro: melee class that can cast

Con: not ret

Beast Cleave says hi

enhance pvp is purge purge purge grounding wf totem purge earth shock purge purge repeat

Yes, and I suppose every other classes is super baby easy mode compared to rogue having to not press their one DPS button too many time to not spend all their energy.

Give me a break, rogue isn’t hard to play compared to having to deal with deadzoning, seal twisting, pet management, healing in general, mana management being much harder than energy management, stance dancing, etc.

Not pressing a button like a dunce isn’t a complicated thing, combo points aren’t a hard concept to handle and keeping your energy above 40 for shadowstep kick, kidney or the occasional gouge isn’t hard. The only thing that requires any kind of skill for a rogue to do is vanish sap.
Crippling poison and wounding poison alone should be reason enough to call rogue the easiest class to play in PvP.
