Proposed Changes to WoW Multiboxing for Fairer Play and Bot Control

A suggestion for a new approach to multiboxing in World of Warcraft, designed to balance the needs of legitimate multiboxers, while more importantly cracking down on botters.

Default Setting: Single Instance of WoW Initially, WoW should allow only one active game instance per player. This would be the standard setting across the board.

Introducing the Multiboxing Slider To engage in multiboxing, players would activate a ‘Multiboxing Slider’ in their game settings prior to logging in. This feature would regulate several aspects:

  1. No VPNs Allowed: Activating multiboxing would automatically disable the ability to use VPNs, ensuring location transparency and hindering a common botting practice.
  2. Battlegrounds (BGs) Restriction: Characters logged in with multiboxing enabled should be barred from participating in BGs to maintain competitive fairness.
  3. Enhanced Software Monitoring: With multiboxing activated, If blizzard deems it necessary and prudent, deploy additional software tracking. This not only makes it tougher for botters to hide but also protects legitimate multiboxers from wrongful bans.
  4. Single Battle.net Account Requirement: All multiboxing accounts must be under one Battle.net account, simplifying oversight.
  5. WoW Token Limitation: Limit WoW Token usage to one per account on the Battle.net at any time, preventing potential economic exploitation.

IP Ban for ToS Violation If a player is banned for a Terms of Service violation while multiboxing, their IP should be banned from activating the multiboxing feature and logging into multiple accounts simultaneously. This doesn’t stop them from playing on a single account but prevents any form of multiboxing from that IP for the duration of the ban. This measure aims to add a significant deterrent against ToS violations.

I believe these measures could effectively help regulate MB. I am sure there are exploits or counterpoints that I have not thought of, however, feel free to share your thoughts.

“legitmate multiboxers”

Just ban all multiboxers. Nobody wants them in the game.

That is your opinion, but as it is currently, it is supposedly “an acceptable thing”. Before “bans” are permitted, ToS should first make it clear, multiboxing in principle is Bannable.

These are all terrible suggestions.

Never been a thing. All multiboxers are abusive scum who utilize their multi account power to decimate any and everything that requires a group, or, is an unstoppable force in the world that requires an organized raid group to take down a single person.

Of course I know there are those two account boxers who just want to see if they can. Go do it in a different game. One of the best things blizzard has ever done was gutting multiboxers.

As far as bots are concerned, we don’t need multiboxers for that. Introducing one cancer to fight another cancer isn’t how it works.

Cutting it all out does.

Multiboxing, in any way, is cheating. Blizzard can censor me off the forum for saying it, but even they eventually changed policy to prohibit it. It was one of the few times my abuse and grief wasn’t in vain.
:axe:

I mean, cheating isn’t really a matter of perspective. Blizzard has explicitly stated multiboxing is legal - hasn’t changed as far as I know. Last update I saw was shortly after the key broadcasting change in 2021 though

Impossible to limit. Can by bypassed with vm or similar stuff.

Impossible to limit vpn usage

Impossible. Nobody ever will allow some tracking software on their pc apart of software that tracks integrity of client itself. Such tracking software considered harmful with all those legal blah-blah-blah in most of the world

Useless. Even hwid ban can be bypassed. Ip ban is a joke

No thanks, Multi boxing is p2w cringe

How many times have you been actioned for exploiting/cheating? I know it’s more than zero times.

Thanks for considering my feelers for guys that just wanna have fun and not cause issues for others. I get your position though.

I still feel bad for those guys that aren’t bothering anyone or crutching their way though le peeveepee. I don’t believe OP’s suggestions will be workable but since I’ve no skin in the mb game I’m not sure what would be “better” to simply hamper bots/automated play.

If Blizz took a more active stance on abusive boxers, and actually laid out a ruleset, I’d be ok with it. As it stands, just allowing people to slam money down Blizz’s throat for abusive boxing is just absurd, and it should all be removed if Blizz doesn’t care to actually monitor their game.

I used to think boxing was cool, but, like vegans, boxers ruined it for themselves. The worst part of multiboxers is the multiboxers themselves imo. I know it’s not the majority, but my god, being hit by 80 corruptions is the definition of abusive gameplay.

Lets not forget the fireworks and train spam to ddos the zone to prevent us from killing him either. Dark days.
