Proposal to resolve lack of Tanks

Literally nothing in the OP, nor any subsequent suggestions in this thread, will incentivize me to tank for pugs ever again.

People don’t want to tank for randos. period. I don’t know why this is such a difficult concept for people to grasp.

I tank for my friends and guildies, and it goes just fine. There is nothing wrong with tanking in general, and barring some minor issues, adjustments, and annoyances, there is nothing really wrong with the content, either.

The community and human nature caused and worsened this, and it’s not going to get better.

The same can be said to a lesser extent for healing.

That’s what caused the shortage in the first place.

Step 1 - Be nice to your tanks.
Step 2 - Follow your tanks.
Step 3 - Use your interrupts.
Step 4 - Don’t stand in things.
Step 5 - The healer is a healer.
Step 6 - On big pulls, wait for the tank to stop before you dig in.
Step 7 - Reap the rewards.

On the button. Never did mythic because I stopped playing back in WoD, tanked since vanilla. Now that I am back, I just cannot do it anymore let alone trying to figure out what all the mythic lingo is. So I am in a pickle. Most people stick with established groups and pugs never allow for a learning curve. Can only get so much from watching videos.

This was basically the norm in pre-raid dungeons in Vanilla, like UBRS/LBRS, etc. Groups that had dps that could CC did well, and many of those players went on to raid guilds and continued to do well. If you were in a dungeon and everyone in the party could theoretically get upgrades there, you needed pre and combat CC. If most of the party outgeared the drops, you didn’t as much.

Those that couldn’t / didn’t cc, well, they were at their wall, really. I think this is why the general mechanic of CC being necessary across many / most of the trash fights was removed - it put too much of the game behind a skill door. Honestly, non m+ dungeons don’t need that. That is and should absolutely be casual territory. Log in, queue for a few 5s or 5hs, go to bed for work.

Problem is CC doesn’t mesh with the go go go nature of M+

People dont have the patience or the care to cc and leave the ccd add alone.

At this point most CC that isnt a knockback/up or mass snare is more for pvp

The gogo mentality of mythic + has been the best things that’s happened to the game. No idea how long you have been playing the game, but vanilla and tbc were awful having to bring very specific group comps with cc to certain parts to clear it. Now you don’t need CC and the timer further kills cc. CC is one of those things where it’s nice but too much of it gets old very fast. Those also were not fun days my friend, many people couldn’t do heroics because they didn’t have a cc.

I guess you missed the part where I said the tank guaranteed loot doesn’t count toward the cap

Then your solution is doubling loot drops, which is also not happening.

I’d imagine the reason it’s such a difficult concept for people to grasp is the same reason why there’s so many pugs who refuse to even remotely bother learning how to do the dungeons and instead just want to faceroll it all expecting the tank & healer to pick up the slack.

Oh im aware. Started in tbc lol. I honestly prefer not playing like im walking on eggshells trying not to pull tightly together packs that lead to wipe after wipe.

Let the CC mindset die. Its really no longer useful in current wow. Stuns and mass grips and push backs are all that is needed now.

I started as an arms warrior in tbh and tauren stomp was my best friend to use when i didnt have anything else up. Didnt want to use shout to fear because that would send them scattering in all directions pulling other adds…

I still get PTSD from the days of frost mages kite CCing me to death with me powerless to really do anything about that…

They tried this in Cataclysm after people had gotten so used to how easy Wrath dungeons were. There were so many complaints that they ended up just nerfing dungeons into the ground again. It’s still funny, though, whenever Cata Timewalking pops up and watching people get one-shotted by Ozruk in Stonecore or the meteors in BRC.

All I saw was “make dungeons longer”

Sounds like fun! A 10 bear raid team ftw!

No, it isn’t.

It’s guaranteeing ONE piece of loot using a guaranteed bonus roll for the tank. It will be a soul bound piece.
