Proof on how WoD is still the worst expansion vs BfA

Pre WoD event (6.0.2): go to blasted lands, do simple chain quest, mostly Thrall related talk, end reward a pet that can’t get again. Title from achievement that is no longer available.

Pre BfA event (8.0.1): Defending Darkshore and Ashenvale as Alliance, attacking Ashenvale and Darkshore. World quests in Darkshore, very long quest chain vs Warlords event. Inevitable Darnassus falls. Weeks later Alliance invades Lorderaon/Horde Defends Lorderaon, Undercity lost. Reward is mounts that can never get again.

Warlords Launch content: quests till 100, most of your time was spent on leveling your Garrison’s, no needed to even venture out to farm materials they were literally in your Garrison, ruining the point of using gathering professions and disrupt the AH market in raw materials. Dailies in your Garrison at 100, you couldn’t do anything without your Garrison, level your followers, gear them. Grind apexis shards for your legendary ring via from your dailies. By the time you reached end content… There was nothing there for you… Forced proving grounds for LFR players, Highmaul with no tiers (No pathfinder at the time due to no announcement)

BfA Launch: start your quest to kul tiras/zandalar, at 120 start world quests, mythic+, unlocking mag’har orcs/dark iron dwarves, campaign, warmode, leveling 4 followers from the campaign, world quests, Uldir, azerite traits, azerite necklace, endless challenges, Arathi Highlands warfront. Islands. All these mentioned above can be grinded over and over, without being bored. Start your Sylvanas/Saurfang story

WoD 6.1 (selfie patch LOL): LITERALLY just added stuff to Garrison’s, selfie camera, with absolute no content, new followers, spawn bosses in your Garrison, music box heirloom tab, Twitter integration, finally unlocked Blackrock Foundry even though it was originally launch release, WoW tokens, This was considered a major patch.

BfA 8.1 and 8.1.5: new mythic+, Darkshore warfront, faction assaults, new world quests, battle of dazalaor raid , new islands, more intense war campaign, unlocking zandalari trolls and kul Tiran humans, portal rooms, Warlords of draenor time walking, heritage armor, new brawl, new night elf cosmetics, night warrior content, brawlers guild updated and more in depth content, remade WSG and Arathi Basin, crucible of storms raid, continuing Sylvanas/Saurfang story, think Uldir time walking was around here too, that xalatah priest dagger quest with nzoths gift

WoD 6.2: hellfire citadel, Tannan Jungle unlock, Pathfinder finally released, Burning crusade and wotlk time walking, introduction of Mythic dungeons, shipyard, finishing your WoD ring, finishing your Garrison… Warlords of Draenor expansion is over…

BfA 8.2 and 8.2.5: Nazjatar, Eternal Palace, ending the campaign, ending Sylvanas/Saurfang story,Mechagon, mythic Mechagon dungeon, tauren and gnome heritage armor, Heroic Arathi Highlands warfront, new arena, ashran reintroduction, more world quests, finishing pathfinder, azerite necklace essences for new abilities… 15th anniversary events, time walking firelands raid Literally more content than 6.2 itself

WoD 6.3: doesn’t exist

BfA 8.3: visions, nyloatha raid, Nzoth, mechagnome and Vulpera, assaults in vale of eternal blossoms and uldum, corrupted gear, legendary cloak from Wrathion, death knights to allied races and Pandaren, heroic darkshore warfront, new Mythic+ season, Darkmoon faire arcade games coming next weekend, Mechagon now heroic mode and mythic+ attuned… Possibly more I missed

I know I missed some other content between WoD and BfA I believe

Yet… You guys still think BfA is the worst expansion??? WoD had so much content gutted, BfA has more content in their major patches than WoD ever had

If you still defend WoD as it being better than BfA… Something wrong

Honestly though, at the end of the day, one was devoid of content whereas the other is bloated with boring content and grinding systems while being the most alt-unfriendly ever.

I’d probably take WoD again.

So you rather quit about no content in WoD vs putting effort in said grinding content with BfA

Thanks for confirming that you rather have no content vs putting effort

At least for me the grind doesn’t feel rewarding. I’m certainly down for a grind - i play maplestory which makes wows grind look like a walk in the park - but if the grind just gives paltry rewards I don’t feel like it’s worth doing. I guess getting a good corrupted piece would be awesome but I haven’t gotten any all week which makes me feel defeated.

If people don’t want to put effort on the grind then of course people will think there’s nothing to do…

Sorry. WoD wins because gameplay itself was much better for all classes.

You can have content for days, but in the end. Gameplay is always number 1 in video games.

Why did this need another thread? Post in one of the existing ones.

I like to compare them more by their equivalent features:
Leveling: WoD > BFA
Zone design and Art: WoD > BFA
Dungeons: WoD > BFA
Raids: WoD > BFA
Reputations: BFA > WoD
Class Design: WoD > BFA
Tanaan Jungle > Nazjatar/Mechagon
Apexis > Azerite Power (I honestly didn’t mind gathering Apexis back then compared to now)
New Models > Allied Races (I was much more excited for the new models than I was for ARs even though I don’t like how some of them turned out)

What it really comes down to is WoD was disappointing for what it didn’t have. BFA is disappointing for what it does have.

It amuses me to see so many whiteknights trying to defend blizzard and the disaster that is bfa.

I’d rather have the BFA asthetics with the WoD grind-less systems.

I enjoyed WOD Its in my top 5 expansions

I mean… they quite literally halved the amount of rep you get from Legion to BfA and people hail Legion as a great xpack

WoD may have been the worst. I did make about 6M gold in WoD however, due to easy crafting and remote auction house. WoD was alt friendly and crafting friendly, but that was it. The community fell apart due to pathfinder and garrisons. BFA is much, much better than WoD. Thanks for the well written post OP.

These posts are so funny , no matter how you spin it, crap is still crap and both WoD and BFA are really bad compared to past versions of the game.

I only do things that are enjoyable , i mean why waste my free time doing something that isnt? This seems like a pretty normal approach imo unless i’m mistaken.

The only downside about WoD was the lack of content. Everything else was great.

BFA is actually trash.

Wod also had pvp vendors

Even though content was cut from WoD, learning what it was makes it better than BFA. At least WoD stuck with the story of the expansion and not shifting it like 8.2 and 8.3 did. If I were to take the blue pill (BFA) or the red pill (WoD) I definitely take the red pill.

Opinions are subjective. You can’t “prove” WoD was better, but you’re welcome to that opinion.

I had more fun building up my garrison than I’ve had doing anything in bfa.
