Hey guys,
Noticed a few youtubers covering Progressive Itemisation but I thought I could go a bit more in depth into how it can make a difference to improve gameplay if it's implemented.
There's a lot I didn't cover, I tried to touch lightly on as much as I could. I'm sure there's people who are still uninformed about this subject and I feel like they could use this information to form a better opinion, we all get a say in how classic should turn out.
Throughout vanilla, blizzard made changes to dungeon gear and raid loot tables in order to serve as catch up mechanics, so that the new players joining the game could go from dungeons straight into aq40 and naxx.
Some people believe the game would be more fun without the catch up gear implemented from day 1 since you would farm your gear at 60 and then never upgrade it till aq40 comes out. Not to mention the factor it would have on raid difficulty.
The data can and has been recreated through the use of https://web.archive.org/ and can be found in certain open source projects.
Bump.
Content will be released in Stages, as confirmed during the Classic Panel. The game will launch with the following: MC and Onyxia, Dire Maul and World Bosses (not the green dragons).
They've also said they are basing their data on Patch 1.12 and aren't looking to mess with said data. If the changes already existed in 1.12, they will be present at launch.

They also said that they don't want to overshadow raid loot with PvP items and therefore release PvP later. I feel like they should go all the way with it if they're bothering with those items already.
Bump.

Given their lack of desire to touch 1.12 data, I find progressive itemization extremely unlikely. I also find raid retuning very unlikely, and prenerf AV pretty unlikely.
It seems we're getting plain 1.12, which is a shame, because it's worse-than-Nostalrius experience in terms of game difficulty consistency and "gear balance".

I had hoped that they would think twice about it if enough people spoke up. "We don't want to touch 1.12 data", is such a cop out to me. I realise that it's a reassurance thing to preserve player confidence however the gameplay experience is at stake. I much prefer the idea of Blizzard writing a post promising not to change this this and this and then go back and rebuild old AV without old Data and preserve itemisation changes and the release schedule of content.
It definitely is a cop out. Im eagerly awaiting their next communication. How they react to the initial feedback.

I don't Classic isn't going to use the 1.12 data directly. My hunch is that they'll take those numbers, throw it into a Retail number cruncher and that's what we'll get. What this means is that Classic could be different than any one of us is used to. Heck, it could get even easier than 1.12 or private servers.

I'm guessing we won't hear anything until they do a BFA style Q&A on twitch or something. Can't wait.
