Progressive HC

HC was the most fun I’ve had in this game for a long time but people can only reroll so many times and boring meticulous play isn’t for everyone.
It would be sweet to see a rogue-lite version of the game that enjoys the risk of hardcore but with progression that keeps it enjoyable and tempting to keep playing.

they won’t even give us a dedicated SF server and you think they’re gonna transform the game into a “rogue-lite”? :expressionless:

Not many people want SF because they’ve already did it a bunch through add-on and it’s niche. Might as well just offer an offline mode with bots.
Hardcore isn’t dead because it’s not hardcore enough…

HC is the most fun I have - pleas do not ask to have it ruined.

I don’t think the next “seasonal” server having a different rule set impedes on anyone else’s fun…
After warbands are released most of what they would need is there other than a persistent character/class talent experience bar

You mean progression into TBC → Wrath → etc. ?

Whadda you mean?

???

???

I thought you wanted to progress the HC servers!

Haha no i want persistence within character/account development
Like a rogue-lite where all you’re efforts are cumulative making each new character more advanced than the last. Sorry poor title…

Then don’t play lol. This is why HC servers were always going to be a bad idea in the first place guys. It was best as a self applied challenge. Now we deal with people wanting to make odd changes for the sake of the game not dying.

Mail your gold to alts. Congrats, now you can start with Fiery and other stuff on your gear.

Yeah the scuffed alt system is what developed but then you still have to run around doing skill unlocks and all kinds of tiring stuff.
HC offered alot of fun, danger and community interaction that has been unmatched in a real long time but you’re right that limitations should be self imposed.
This is something that adds to the game by merging a popular genre while also fulfilling Blizzards desire to engage new and returning players with as little development as possible

Wow - even worse. I like each character to be alone - one new entity - NOT my account.

All kinds of FUN stuff in my book. I love starting over, that is why I still play HC, I have many alts there - for levelling, not for banking

Corrected for you.
HC is still the best fun and the most Vanilla-like experience I’ve had since a long, long time - since Classic demo during Blizzcon 2018, actually.

To the handful of dedicated players still engaging with it. You can still hear the echo’s of the SF announcement a few posts down

*also the concept doesn’t diminish what you’ve already got…

How can it not, if all my alts already have everything upon creation …? This - the accountwide achievement system - is one of the bigger reasons I do not play Retail (and Wrath).

See I was coming to this thread hoping you meant like repeat phases 1 thru 6 but in a hardcore server. So much content was irrelevant or trivialized due to starting in a later content cycle. Like for instance most people will deck themselves out in ZG & AQ20 gear before going to BWL as well as T0.5 sets. These all came after BWL in original and 2019 classic but are objectively easier content.

lol yup, thanks to bank alts you can already do this :expressionless:

 apparently i need to bust out the alphabet blocks on this one to spell it out.
A HC+ server wide mode which would allow players to keep their talent points for a character or class as well as unlocks such as flightpaths, weapon proficiencies, purchased spells, reputations and more, so that starting over would be less inconvenient, more fun and part of the intended playstyle much like a rogue-lite game…

How would this work for “alts” would your account get the progress or just if you hit “try again” when you die? Would you be locked into playing the same class/race again on try again? Like for instance someone could use this system to cheese reputation. Like let’s say you want the tiger mount on a human warrior. You could level a night elf through Teldrassil then die intentionally and roll another and repeat until exalted. Then you would make your human warrior. Normally getting another factions mount requires a hefty investment of cloth as quest rep alone is not enough.

People have probably farmed the reputations multiple times so if it’s too easy or they intentionally or unintentionally (i just die alot) cheese it does it matter? Also HC was swimming in cloth.
But i would expect with talent points that it would become harder to farm at low levels as experience needed becomes higher, so perhaps reputation thresholds could be increased in the same way. Or just nerf rep gains across the board.

A lot of this was a result of petri raiding though. If petri hadn’t been there, while some raids such as MC would probably have been raided less due to ZG/AQ20 having much better gear, its unlikely that people would have jumped into AQ40/Naxx nearly as quickly as those raids can be punishing even in full BIS, and a few deaths or a wipe would set raids back significantly.

That’s not what I mean, what I am referring to is that ZG/AQ20 are easier than BWL. However BWL chronologically was released first. By being able to farm ZG/AQ20 it makes raids like BWL easier/safer. This is just one of many examples of where catch-up gear makes the earlier raids easier. People jumping into AQ40/Naxx is a separate issue.
