Every time one of my Hard Core characters die, I like to spirit rez, hearth, and vender EVERYTHING, from gear down to the bags themselves. I don’t touch the bank though. Then I send all the gold I had earned during that Hard Core run to a character I like to call a “Blood Money” character. (This Blood Money character is not a Hard Core character).
I feel like it adds a sense of progression to the game that persists through death. A point counter of sorts. I don’t ever touch the gold. I just like to watch it grow and see how much I’ve accumulated over what? 30 runs now?
But as far as I’m aware, death will be permanent in official. This can be a good thing but it will also eliminate this way of progression counting. Perhaps there can be another implementation of a point counter that persists through countless hard core runs and still feels just as accomplishing?
What are some of your thoughts on this?
I think some sort of achievement/account tracking system could be cool, but ultimately classic wow is a very character driven experience rather than an account driven one and I don’t really see this sort of thing being added.
Simple Gold Counter is an addon that counts your gold throughout all your characters. Since dead characters won’t lose or gain any gold, the amount you accumulated will never drop below what you’ve already gained… unless, of course, you press the reset button.
Alternatively, you can also make a spreadsheet and count everything yourself without the risk of the reset button.
