Progression Servers

Do you think at some point after they’ve released enough “classic” expansions they’ll start running progression servers like EQ and LOTRO do?

The way these games do it is they start at their version of vanilla and slowly release content up to the latest version (which would be wotlk in our case). After a time they give the option to transfer off the progression server, shut it down, and start all over again with a new one.

Thats exactly what SOM, TBC, and Wrath are.

I personally would like them to start over and do post classic, and just add… no expansions… just new raids etc…
maybe a twist… regular servers but the new raid has permanent death… lol

I took a long break from wow. Did they move SOM from classic to TBC to WoTLK? My understanding was that they’ve only done this the one original time for each expansion and it wasn’t really a progression server where everyone on the same server moved through the expansions together, rather new servers were built and players cloned over.

Yes. As SoM came to an end, the players spammed the forums begging to be sent to the progression realms. Some even called for the season to be terminated prematurely just so they could play their ‘seasonal’ toons during the wrath prepatch.

All this did was prove the obvious: seasonal play isn’t as popular as people think it is. The ones that actually stuck through the whole season hated the fact that all the time they spent in their seasonal realm was going to be wiped away.

Ignore cope. He doesn’t know of what he speaks. He’s against anything that’s not just sitting incendius in purgatory.

Couldn’t care less about TBC and Wrath. Give us Classic+ ffs and do balance sweeps of classes / specs / gear. TurtleWoW is a perfect example of tweaking the game without taking away from what makes it Classic WoW

Well, you have to recall that Blizz dropped the ball when it came to SOM. The experience rates were way too low for a seasonal realm. This discouraged mid level players because despite a +40% quest exp bonus , leveling still took a long time.

Blizzard should have just made it so that all experience gained is +200% or something. Just aslong as all experience is buffed.

Also add in a LFG dungeon finder. Why not ? It promotes playing with friends and makes leveling more digestable.

Their focus on SOM should have been “reduce the rough edges of classic wow, and add on to the great characteristics”. Instead it was all half baked and nothing felt like it had soul or any thought.

This whole cata thing is way worse then i couldve possibly imagined. The second new servers come out im out

Bro why did you necro a year old thread?

As long as the Era servers are kep to accomodate slow levellers or those just wanting to keep their progress, I think this would be fabulous.

If this is what is meant by

I’m sorry. I only play WoW.

He shoulda used Wow-speak:

Those two games run fresh servers periodically that progress from the original game content to whatever is current. So if opie wants that he’s gonna hafta wait until the 2019 crowd is done “progressing”.

I suggest we have both: Fresh in a 2 year cycle, and Era servers to either go to or continue in next xpac. This for all classics.
All happy?

Rerolled Era soon as it launched and legit no regrets, its a wild thing.
