Has anyone else been experiencing constant program crashes since Monday, June 8th? I had no issues prior to that. my OS is up to date (Windows 11 Pro), latest nVidia 610.47 Geforce drivers), I have updated all of my loaded add-ons, and deleted any that were not used. I can play D4 and other games with no issues, but early Monday morning I am constantly being disappointed by crashes. I log in on any toon, sometimes I get a few minutes of play, sometime seconds. The latest crash that was weird enough was as soon as I left-clicked on the “Enter World” button in the character select page, it crashed. I even just logged in to a character, and didn’t touch any controls at all, about 90 seconds later, poof! Crash again for no reason.
I am pretty good if not great with any and all computer hardware and software troubleshooting. This is a ridiculous issue that has me pondering what the cause could be. The system is clean, and everything else works great. I updated last Thursday and played since then, but Monday morning, all hell was set loose with WoW.
I see an “Illegal memory write error” all the time, going to a very low address: 0x0000000000000008 usually, so this has me wondering what could be sending data there? I have also tried running WoW with no add-ons, as well as deleting the WTF and Interface folders, done the ‘scan and repair’ in battle.net and did a deep virus scan with bit defender. Any suggestions? (besides a reformat and reinstall OS, yada yada yada…)
Thank you.
Are you running DirectX 12? According to wowhead, NVIDIA has an updated driver, 610.52, to help with stability issues. I have no idea if this applies to your situation, but you can check it out.
On the other hand, it is possible that you already have this update installed, and it screwed up everything, instead of fixing it.
NVIDIA’s support page about this version is dated June 8th.
I have exactly the same problem and tried the same fixes, but on Windows 10. I installed the nVidia 610.52 hotfix driver and it’s still crashing. The screen freezes and the whole system locks up. Event viewer doesn’t provide any help as to the cause. I’ve trying disabling options and turning add-ons completely off. The crash only happens when playing Warcraft. I’ve reset to default options and no change. Blizz needs to talk to Nvidia about this. Until then I can’t play Wow. There’s no point in maintaining my subscription if I can’t play
This is exactly what I have been experiencing, much more since the last reset.
Been dc’d some. I also see the game out of sync. I entered a dungeon today, and couldn’t see the other players or the mobs, though the players showed on the minimap. Then the DK’s pets showed. They were fighting something I couldn’t see. After another minute the rest of the players and the mobs appeared.
latest driver is “GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 610.52”, available at https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5854
this should fix DirectX 12 related issues with WoW
