Hello fellow hunters
I recently roll a hunter and I’d like to make it my main moving forward into the patch. I am questioning about what are the best professions for Hunter?
Could anyone give me a brief list of cons/pros for them?
Many thanks!

I tend to prefer having engineering and alchemy on my main. Engineering for the gadgets: wormholes, mailbox, tinkers (goblin glider on cloak, run speed to belt etc), repair bots, loot-a-rang and access to engineering goggles transmogs. Alchemy for 2 hr flasks.
Not sure if it’s changing for 8.3, but strictly which profession gives the best crafted gear for hunter, for 8.2.5 it was jewel crafting for ring and leather working for pants/boots (pants for raid and both outside).
Unless you’re going to compete in the very top the difference in which professions gear is best is minimal, so go with what you’d prefer more. For example if you care to collect bind on pickup old crafted gear for transmog leather working could be nice. Engineering with its gadgets is always fun.
Best gold making profession? Alchemy and enchanting.
Best profession for hunter? The one you enjoy the most!
For me, it is engineering solely for the cloak glider enchant. I’ve lost count how many times that has saved my bacon not only in PVP, but PVE as well - Disenage, activate cloak, glide away, drop combat, camo, still alive! This is not to mention the convenience in non-flying situations to get down from high places!
Man, the only professions that make the most sense to me is skinning and leatherworking for a hunter. Unless you’re MM then I can say that mining and engineering fits.
Of note: Has the legendary cloak been fixed so it is able to utilise gliders?
As above, I usually go Alchemy and Engineering. The toys can be very handy, and double length flask is fantastic if you’re raiding.
No, it has an onuse effect and you can’t tinker those.
I am always an Alchemist. Always.
The benefit of always having enough flasks, potions, battle elixirs, and a decent trinket is too much to pass up.
That said, Engineering has a great Helm, which while not BIS, is still a respectable piece. There is also some other utility here, such as lockpicking, which is almost invaluable in Tol Dagor.
Leatherworking has Boots and Leggings in patch 8.3 which can be crafted up to mythic raid level, without ever stepping foot in a mythic raid. Very possible to have them at that ilvl before the mythic raid is even released.
The other ones are Enchanting, Jewelcrafting, and Inscriptions, none of which offer large enough benefits outside of what you can get off the AH for cheap.
What engineering device works on the Tol Dagor locks? A moderate search is telling me that the TD locks are 550 lockpicking which allows lockpicking items from Legion and BfA to work on them. Engineering’s highest lockpicking item is the Locksmith’s Powderkeg from MoP which goes up to 450 locksmithing.
The 2 best crafting professions are Leatherworking and engineering.
Skinning/Leatherworking fits the theme of hunter the most, it’s what I use myself. If you’re a raider, herb/alch. If you’re a pvper, Enchant/Engi. If you just want the almighty GP, mining/herb.
Engineering. It’s high maintenance to obtain everything and you have less bag space and it’s expensive… but once you get all your toys, you’re set.
