'Professions' system

Okay.

Who farms anyway? Just buy everything.

I was referring to the original overhaul. But as of now you still don’t always have control of the quality of the finished product. Once you start really crafting you run out of “concentration” pretty quick.

I was worried early in DF that the new system would be too complicated, but after playing with it, I actually enjoy it more than the old profession system (DEFINITELY more than the systems we had in Legion/BFA–utter trash). It’s more engaging than just “buy/farm 300 ore, press “create all,” max out, now you’re done.”

Here is why I hate it:

Old system: the time gate is behind rare recipes for the best things, otherwise if you got gold you got max level in a day.

New system: time gate, patron orders are STUPID, weekly to get orders to get skills is STUPID, the fact we are time gated on a mat used for crafting (yellow stuff in DF, blue this xpac and no 100 a week free quest this time around.)

Also like I had mining finished in a month or so in DF. Blacksmith is STILL not done as I took breaks. Its just not fun tbh.

I think the new system would be fine if they stopped time gating it so hard.

Why do you care about reaching 100? when it isn’t that relevant.

Before you got to 100, and could make nothing useful lol.

With region wide AH though there’s no incentive to craft once you fall behind. Lower rank crafts become very cheap, so it becomes a waste of mats. It feels like chasing the horizon. With the old system you could get the recipe and get a piece of the pie much quicker.

It does reward the people who got to the top much more though. Because there’s less competition up top, all competition is stuck grinding at silver ranks. But it’s a very back loaded success curve which makes it unfun to play professions for most people.

For most profs, you can get to equal rank in a single day.

But I’ll grant you, it’s true that few are fully competitive.

If KP worked like crests, it wouldn’t be a bad idea.

An ever rising number.

With patrons in the mix, the chasm grows.

New prof system is a convoluted token pushing scheme. That’s all.

I hate it, just like I hated it in DF. I’ll probably engage with it even less than I did in DF, which is saying a lot. I gave it a chance in DF and worked with each profession on alts, and still thought it was the worst thing Blizzard has ever done to professions. In TWW, nothing much has changed, so there’s no reason to give it that chance.

What that means is that I’ll play the game less, which I kinda doubt was Blizzard’s intention, but there it is.

Other way around. Since region wide auction houses lower costs DRAMATICALLY it means that the longer into an expansion it is, the cheaper it is to level up a profession. It’ll still take time but that’s why you specialize.

Ergo why when behind you specialize, and if you don’t, you do you. The materials are all still way cheaper the later it is in an expansion.

I have yet to encounter a single person who actually engages with the profession system that dislikes it. The only people I have ever encountered who say they don’t like it either:

  • Don’t understand it and make no attempt to understand it.
  • Don’t engage with it and made up their mind because forum upvotes.
  • View professions as something that shouldn’t be an activity, typically this group of people also have the mindset of “anything I disagree with, shouldn’t be an activity at all in the game - therefore delete everything I don’t like.”

So… I don’t take these people seriously. I explain how folks get started and what folks miss when people act in good faith, but I have yet to encounter a single person who doesn’t fall into one or multiple of those three categories who are against the profession system. There’s people who are ambivalent towards it, but as I said … I have yet to encounter anyone acting in good faith who is against the updated professions.

The crafting system pre Legion was perfectly fine. Just needed to add some tweaks.

Current crafting system benefits botters the most.

Yup it is RMT to the max.

Overall I do, though Alchemy Experimentation is awful and should be removed altogether, and I wish knowledge was a bit less timegated.

They are chasing the money that is the problem.

The desperation is a sacrifice for the long term integrity of the game.

I’m making bank off alchemy.

pretty much this!!!
Its crazy they amount of gold it takes now to even start crafting decent ilevel gear lol

I’ve made about 500k gold selling mats and that’s just by posting what I gathered going from 70-80, not playing the AH. I love the gold, the profession system is just meh tho.

Of course they made this system so overly complicated and frustrating so people wouldn’t bother and just spend money on tokens. Anyone who things otherwise is delusional

“My opinion equals true. Other opinion = delusion. Therefore, I am always correct.”

Fixed that for you.
