Professions (Mage)

Any advice on best professions for a frost mage? It would be nice to afford a mount at 40.

Mining/Skinning
Herbalism/Skinning
Mining/Herbalism

Gather, vendor, sell raw mats until level 40 or you have 100G (whichever happens first). Once you have your mount purchased, reconsider your professions (if you want to do something like Tailoring/Enchanting).

Mining makes more money than Herbalism at low levels, because Silverleaf and Peacebloom are vendor fodder, but Copper Ore will always sell for way better than vendor price (but you have to be willing to work the AH to maximize your gains – such as buying ores and reselling as bars)

Tailoring for the Azure set. And prolly skinning for raw gold gains

Mining + tailoring, save the mats you get from mining and use them for engineering later. Tailoring gives free money in the form of making mooncloth on cooldown, once you’re level 35, have trained high enough and have the recipe. Engineering offers some afking money making methods. Mining has active money making methods.

You’re realistically not gonna get your L40 mount from banking on your professions. You’re gonna get it from quest rewards, vendoring everything you get and not spending gold on anything that is not your most important spells (basically frostbolt, fire blast, cone of cold, AI, your armors and conjure water/food).

I went with Tailoring/Enchanting, for the sake of taking advantage of things I pick up along the way, but you can’t really go wrong with gathering professions.

enchanting and tailoring, one feeds the other and they are both self sustaining
