Professions for a Level boosted Character?

Hi Guys,

I’ve just come back after mostly retiring around WOTLK finish / Cata start. When i saw Classic had hit TBC I had to play as i always wanted to experience BC end game as WOTLK came out the week before i hit 70.

Anyways - I’ve rolled a Undead Priest and obviously have no cash as its my first classic account. Just wondering what profession will be the easiest / most profitable as i desperately need my epic mount.

Is it possible to pick up enchanting for just the disenchanting and D/E Burning crusade BOE Greens ( i cant remember) ? Not sure best way to go? leveling and getting gold that way is so slow and i need a secondary means of bringing in gold. Not sure if i should invest time and go back to classic wow spots and skin / pick herbs.

Any suggestions highly appreciated.

If you’re not really interested in the crafting side and are only looking to sell, I would recommend skinning for sure just because you are already killing things. For the other one, it depends on if you enjoy the mining/herbalism gathering experience. I’m not particularly a fan of that, so enchanting is the next go to. You can DE and sell the mats.

do you know if say i was level 5 enchanting could i DE a level 58 green BOP - i cant remember or find on google haha

As of TBC, no. Your enchanting needs to be at an appropriate level now to DE items.

Merchanting on the AH can be very profitable and you don’t need to level a profession to do it.

The income will be slow to start, but should be steady. I’d eventually drop skinning and pick up alchemy. Potions and flasks always do fairly well.

lol @ boosters that don’t even know about professions. WHY would you boost if you don’t know professions?

I tanked Ramparts for a 58 hunter that had just boosted literally a few hours prior and was brand new to WoW. We were helping her understand her class and what gear she needed the whole run. I taught her about her stat priorities and sent her to some good online resources. She did it because she was talked into playing by her friends. She’s like 64 now and has been in a bunch of my groups. She loves the game and it’s really cool to see new people enjoying themselves so much in this old game. I’m glad she bumped into us rather than you.

you seem to be overall a positive member of the community. the type of person we remember from the old days. not the 12 year old twitch kids who think frostbolt critting themselves to legendary parses makes the game good.

nice to see, honestly.

For your info , i know all of the professions and what they do and the benefits etc. As a matter of fact i have the majority all leveled up on my retail account up to WOTLK where i dropped out. I couldn’t remember if i could still disenchant everything and made a post to ask the community . I also thought i’d branch out and ask opinions on the easiest (which i knew be skinning, mining or herbs) .

As you can imagine having so long off the game and in totally different life stages . I am now mid 30’s was playing i was in my early 20’s and i haven’t actually remembered every detail about the game but wanted to get onboard with the nostalgia like everyone else. Which is exactly why blizzard added the option for me to take the level boost . I wouldn’t have re-subbed if i had to grind 60 levels to play BC , i just don’t have time anymore (I’ve made 4 levels in a month) . Even the prospect of grinding 2 professions sucks going through end area’s.

Any way i’d like to thank you very much for your super helpful reply ! It made me recall the crap parts of the wow community. Have a good day Big man

Blacksmithing and putting weapons on the auction house

thanks all for your help !

What does your comment add? Why do you feel the need to try to gate-keep who can play a video game that you probably love. Take a look at yourself, and fix it.

I would suggest tailoring, and or alchemy.

With tailoring you can make BiS crafted gear, but you can also sell the cloth CD’s to make money. And alchemy, pretty much the same, passive income from transmutes.

Gathering professions are so contested atm, at least on my server that herb/mining outside of dungeons is pretty few and far between.

I boosted a warrior, between first aid, cooking and fishing, it has taken me almost 2 days played. About 70% of that has been completing the armour Smith quest line, and getting to 270 blacksmithing skill. Everything else is maxxed out.
I’m currently in Un Goro grinding out hearts of fire for the second easiest thorium recipe, because the easiest thorium levelling recipe is a rare world drop, that is on Auction house for 300+ gold. Be very careful about choosing blacksmithing as one of your skills.

Booster here.
Got 58. Leveled to 70 w/o any profs. As I started running dungeons, I sold stuff on AH.
Then leveled up Herbalism in about 2 days 1-300, and bought the rest on AH for alchemy. 1-300 alchemy cost be ~150-200 gold only.

If you level via questing, you will save up more than enough gold. Even almost enough for epic flying.

Leveling it would be painful. You’d need to go to old zones and actually farm hardcore for drops to DE. I wouldn’t personally. Also, imho, terrible for gold making. Every time I post “WTB chant”, I get 10+ whispers within few seconds. plenty of chanters.

rds rds really did

i’ve actually never maxed out alchemy so this might be a good option

My only suggestion is to not get mining or herb until you have epic flying. It’s way too competitive otherwise. Unless you absolutely need it for a profession.

Welcome and have fun!
