for 16 years I didn’t need to be at a table to make my cloth bolts. What is so different about this cloth than all the other cloth that I can’t just do it without a table? Is it just super heavy and durable? WHATS THE LOGIC?
Assume the patterns got just that more difficult. You need an actual station to do it then a rock in the middle of nowhere
super complicated stuff so crafting table
I think the idea was that they could make some things more flavorful - like alchemy being bound to a research system. It’s a bit weird to be tied to rng for core alchemy stuff but rare recipe drops and the system in Legion to increase specialist levels was also fundamentally rng.
It’s just a bit limiting. I guess it also reduces the ability to bot high end crafts so it might have been thought of as an economy fix.
If they ever do housing in some fashion I do hope they include options to acquire crafting tables.
i’d be nice if they removed the necessity for a table all together like vanilla-shadowlands. I hate the crafting system all together now. IF they’re going to force us to use a table, at least make a toy to put down a table with like a 2hr cd or something…
There’s class fantasy, but what Blizzard has introduced since Dragon Flight is “Profession fantasy”. Being at a table to craft makes more sense instead of, “I crafted this epic robe while swimming underwater” If you would rather have convenience, that’s fine. Just saying my best guess as to why they ddi it.
Crafting tables were not introduced in Dragonflight, but in fact, has been here since vanilla. The difference is that they were usually out of the way and was only required for a handful of recipes and/or professions. Alchemists had to go into Scholomance or BLW to crafts flasks, etc.
I have thermal anvils on my blacksmith. Its an anvil, with a mini forge inside of it. How the hell can I not use it to do everything I can do at a table that doesn’t?
I’m sure a lot of players like what they have done with crafting. But between dragonflight and this expansion they pretty much have me ready to quit crafting and just gather from here out.
and they all fit into your little backpack right?
I need a table to make a bandage, which is lame.
Complex patterns, I can see, but bandages? Come on.
Yup. Right next to my horsey.
I know this isn’t fixing the problem, but engineers can make consumable crafting tables that can be bought in the AH, similar with dragonflight. Plop it down and anyone can use it if it’s the appropriate profession table.
this exists. engineers can make them.
Engineers can make portable crafting stations.
Tons of people “begged” for Blizzard to make professions relevant and interesting. I’m sure if you’ve got some ideas they’d listen.
This is an important lesson. Watch what you wish for.
The logic is to force you to go to a major hub city and be near/possibly interact with nearby PCs, plus you can read Trade chat while you do your thing.
It’s an effort to bring back some of the community the game has lost over time.
How effective has this been? Tough to say, but I think them making the effort is worth some props all on its own.
Difference is that its a different ex pack and thats how they coded the professions, the bolts and cloth you make in game is not real its just little icons lol
Spider web cloth is messy. The good news is that you can still disenchant without a table. For now.
but story - rp - etc…
