I like leveling professions and the progression path of using Knowledge to get better over a longer period of time.
I do not like doing it dozens of times, or having characters that it’s effectively “wrong” to do gathering or crafting on, because you’ll be getting / making worse products.
I think there’s an easy way to do this.
Have me upgrading the capabilities of the Profession Stations be what happens over the course of the season. The little stand I visit will be broken down and barely functional. Over the course of doing the profession, filling orders, etc. - they get better. They can teach me in turn to do things better.
And what happens when an alt with the same profession walks up to the stand? It’s Warband progress means they’ll teach them too.
We’re already doing this with Reputations. Once I hit 80, I can slam through tons of stones and crests as a reward I’ve earned on my account for all characters.
This would be the push to really see doing every profession, and upgrading them not only fun on a utility basis… but from a lore standpoint, watching the efforts of my Warband being responsible for restoring a community of trade and commerce, for the benefit of the people visibly in front of me would encourage me to do everything. Time played, right?
Thanks.
