why are there no profession quests? There is a crafting order quest, but no pofession quests, like alchemy, jewelcrafting, etc. etc.

Crafting professions are different to gather professions. You level up crafting by doing patron orders on your workbench, look for ones that give crafting points.

yes, but the problem im having is all these public orders that ive seem, these people want you to use some of your own mats, for a little amount of gold, and i could probably make more gold off of the AH

Its a way to get those points to upgrade your tree, if you wanted a quest like you said before you would likely need to use all of your own mats to make the item for the quest. The patron quests are NPC ones, public orders is a separate tab.
A lot of the public orders are ripoffs and usually done by people who don’t care about the quality of the item, if you want to make gold from professions you will need to advertise in the proper chat channels.
