As WOW Classic players, we want to retain our beloved WOW Classic feel while still getting content additions that add breadth to our experience. This proposal is intended to hit that mark, as Blizzard only has so much that could be ported to Classic without upsetting the feel we all returned for.
Lumberjack
This profession is a GATHERER profession, chopping trees to get wood. Using this profession would require a Wood axe, similar in cost and combat capability to the Mining Pick.
Wood gathering points, or trees, would need to be placed throughout.
The model would be a cross between Herbalism and Mining. There would be multiple trees of the same level (ala Herbalism) representing, at a minimum, supple wood (like ash and yew, used in bows) and strong wood (like oak, used in clubs and staffs). The gathering action itself would mirror Mining, with each “chop tree” action yielding one wood and the tree disappearing after 2 or more actions.
Wood can easily be added as random drops for mobs and chests, just as herbs, leather, and ore are today. The existing Simple Wood, Star Wood, etc. would be replaced with the new woods aligning with this profession.
Woodworker
This profession is a CRAFTING profession. Using this profession would require a variety of tools, like Engineering in its variety.
MACES - This profession would be able to make one and two handed maces – clubs initially, followed by things like spiked clubs, involving the applicable strong wood plus occasionally metal (reinforced clubs, spiked clubs, etc.). While this would overlap with the Blacksmith’s mace crafting, the intent is to add some variety in this area and not supersede the Blacksmith.
STAFFS - This profession would also be able to make Staffs, covering an area currently without crafting ability. This would be a heavily used area, with lots of room for variety, even random enchantments.
BOWS/ARROWS - This profession would also be able to craft Bows and Arrows. Arrows would be comparable to bullets, requiring wood and metal whereas the former require powder and metal. The option for higher level arrows to require feathers would be a nice touch. It would nonetheless give characters comparable access to improved ammo as gun wielders enjoy. Bow manufacture would align with the Engineer’s Gun manufacture, though of course require different material. In both cases these cover gaps in current crafting capabilities.
SHIELDS - Shields could be crafted by this profession, though like with Maces, would be limited to those primarily crafted of wood, perhaps reinforced with metal. While there is some overlap with Blacksmiths here, it exists only at higher levels, giving this profession a lot of opportunity to create a niche for itself, especially for level 5-30 characters.
BANK BOXES - The additive, completely unique product that this profession would manufacture is Bank Boxes. These are containers that can only be used in Bank slots. They would have names like box, case, trunk, chest, and coffer. The intent here is that while similarly leveled crafter are producing 6-slot bags, this profession could produce a 10-slot box. They are balanced by their limited function, just as profession-specific bags already are.
