Ever since the Housing Patch I’m not able to pick up the profession notes from the renown vendors weekly anymore as I used to. They are there… sorta… for example I go to one on say my character with Herbalism and Mining. Renown vender doesn’t have those 2 anymore when they used too instead he shows as having Jewl crafting and enchanting. Ok fine, I switch toons and head to that one with my Jewl crafter no prob whatever maybe they switched things around. Nope… now Jewel crafting isn’t there but Enchanting and blacksmithing is… hmmmm ok…
Anyhow I swapped to each of my 16+ chracters and it’s the same thing and I’ve checked all the vendors. They show to have stuff on them for professions I don’t have on 1 character but do on others but soon as I go there on one of those characters those notes are gone now but others are there in their place.
What the heck?
And just to clarify by Profession Notes I mean the things you can buy from them that give you 10-15 points in the selected profession for your specializations.
Thanks
Are you talking about the one-time knowledge point item you got from cartels of undermine, one of the four zone factions, etc?
Such as, for example:
Are you saying you received these more than once? Or that you haven’t received one for the first time?
As far as I was aware and how they worked they are like the crafted ones. useable once a week. after the reset. I have been using those once I found out they were once a week thing wished I known sooner they were. But had the last several weeks prior to the patch.
Either this was intended and now is broke or I guess maybe not and now is fixed? Hence why I’m asking. But either way it’s weird how the vendors change which ones they have now so they never have the ones that character needs.
The crafted ones are weekly. The renown ones are supposed to be one per profession, per character.
For example, if you purchase the alchemy notes once, you shouldn’t see it again. Er? If you saw a second one that would be a bug. However there are several factions which will give you one:
- One of the main factions: Council of Dornogal, Hallowfall Arathi, Assembly of the Deeps. Which one depends on your profession. Example: Council of Dornogal gives one for alchemy, blacksmithing, tailoring, enchanting
- Kej knowledge books purchased from City of Threads
- Cartels of Undermine
- K’aresh Trust
Additionally you can buy 3 x knowledge notes from the Artisan Consortium for varying amounts of Artisan’s Acuity.
But these are all 1-time use.
Edit: as for why you are seeing other profession notes, it’s because you could change your profession and then get knowledge for that. It shows you all of them so that if you need to change, you can see it’s still there.
Interesting… I didn’t know the crafted ones or the ones from renown venders were weekly. Then a friend had told me they were. I was annoyed about the crafting ones as I made a bunch… but then went back and dug them out to start using them once I found they were weekly and then went to the renown venders and sure enough after reset I could get another for each profession 1 per character per week. Until after the patch. which sucks, but oh well. I don’t get to play enough to really get a lot of points in it so I thought it was a good deal to raise those. oh well.
But they were never like that before, they would only show me the profession ones I had that they sold. So for example, Vendor A always sold Mining, Herbing, Jewel crafting and leather working. I could see them all on any character, characters now with those professions they would show up as red. Now none of the venders are carrying any notes for any professions that my character currently there has. But when I go back with a different character they have different notes…lol It’s weird…
So, suppose you have alchemy and you bought the notes on one character.
That character should see the Dornogal quartermaster selling blacksmithing, enchanting, and tailoring as red items, because you are not that profession and you can’t buy those.
A second character who is a tailor and bought the tailoring notes would see alchemy, blacksmithing, and enchanting.
A third character who has none of these and bought none of them would see alchemy, blacksmithing, enchanting, and tailoring.
What they’re showing are the ones you didn’t buy.
That makes sense but that is not how it has been for me, at least until after the housing patch. Well I’m bummed to say the least… but oh well at least I got to do it a few times.

Might be a good suggestion though, to implement it like that to catch up in the last few months of TWW. Not to mention, it’d be nice to catch-up like that in future expansions, should you ever want to come back to TWW.
Maybe what you saw is just an “oops, that’s not supposed to be out yet”. That would be great actually.
Yeah, that would be awesome. I don’t get much of those specialization points as it is as I generally don’t get to play much anymore generally thursday and friday nights for 2-3 hours each night. Then on rare occasion when the boss(Wife) gives me the green light other times… but with working 60 hours a week plus having 10 of 11 kids in home I’m pretty busy.
