So last night after questing with my Hunter for a bit, time came to pick the professions. I kinda got stuck there. Do I want to relive LW/Skinning again or go for money making path, Herb/Skinning? Normally I’d just do LW/Skinning since it benefit for myself the most, but I’ve been down that path in TBC and onward, the LW end up being largely useless.
Guess my question is, will LW be useful during my adventure in Classic? I know about Devilsaur sets, but what about earlier gears before that? Or would I be better off just do Herb/Skinning and have someone make gears for me?
What about you guys, why did you pick your profs?
I’m in the same boat. I went Tailoring/Enchanting when I made my hunter the first time. I ended up dropping tailoring and picked up engineering. It was really expensive and I was only ever able to get my 100% mount via PvP. I want to make more gold this time around.
Unlike TBC, there are no “bind-on-craft” recipes for Leatherworking, so you’re not going to be depriving yourself of any “BiS” gear if you forego Leatherworking. If you’ve got skinning, you can trade skins to Leatherworkers for the decent leveling gear – offer a small tip, or some LWers may craft free-of-charge for the skillups.
For me, I’m going Herbalism/Skinning on my Hunter(s), with the intention of maybe dropping Skinning for Engineering at Level 40 (I’ll have alts with mining). I was Engineering/Leatherworking in classic, but the only consistent moneymaker is selling [Cured Rugged Hide] or [Refined Deeprock Salt] when Naxx launches (unless you wanna join a Devilsaur Mafia on your server).
Herbs and mining are good too. Both will sell well to people who use them.
