It’s definitely going to be problematic, and very expensive, if the only way to find them continues to be through opening random-spawn boxes or dirt piles in Hallowfall.

They seem decently easy to farm if you stick to hollowfall. Loot all the arathi treasure boxes and the kobald ones, so the one delve in the far west of the zone (nightfall sanctum) and loot the chests in there for a chance at them. I’ve looted about 10 in hallowfall just doing other stuff and making sure to hit up treasure chests while doing it.
It’s still pretty early expac. The price should continue to drop as more people level up and play more.
Such a bad design. I’ve found 1 in my entire play time since early access and I’ve played a lot. They seemed to have nerfed the spawns on arathi treasures as well.

I haven’t notice a drop in spawns. I’ve maintained about the same average per farming session each day (Blacksmiths need a bunch for alloy). Just got 2 an hour ago during a 30 min jaunt around hallowfall, looted around 15 chests (they were all spawning like mad at the same time in the same general area).
It’s RNG though and the drop rates are single digit so it’s tough to tell if the rates have changed or not. You’d need to do thousands of chest lootings to get an idea of the current drop rate to really compare.
I dont think the spawns were nerfed - I think lots of people are after them. I’ve been fighting mobs near them to loot and it usually takes less than 15 seconds before someone else arrives to loot first. Now that they added weekly profession points to treasures (2 or 4 points weekly for crafting professions depending on the profession) then the chests are highly sough after.
I no lifed it today and spent 8 hours in hallowfall/couple other zones gathering and scooping up treasures. not 1 single profane tinderbox from hundreds of treasures.

I just got two more in hallowfall in an hour (I stay in hallowfall when farming tinderboxes as they drop more often in hallowfall than other zones, similar to how the ingots drop in the ringing deeps more often). Perhaps our RNGs compliment each other.
Hopefully they add a more deterministic way to do it.
I did try the delve route and got one for each time I ran it but I only ran it twice, so that could just be RNG (the nightfall sanctum). Each time I ran it a different chest gave me one. I ran it on rank 2 and rank 3 if that helps.

Same, I even used an alt and they leveled to 74 just gathering treasures and killing the mobs. Nothing…

Edit: I’ll try some hallowfall delves later tonight, maybe I’ll get lucky

If you do, try nightfall sanctum. I found one in a chest in house near the last boss. I also looted one from the treasure room after the last boss. Each on a separate run. It could be RNG though and I just got lucky.

random question though, do chests not respawn in delves? do they respawn once a day? once a week? Noticed I could only open the chests once during all the runs other than the end chests
starter zone, loot disturbed earth piles. they are literally everywhere. not hard to get these at all.
I looted enough dirt piles for 3 bags of dust and got one. There is a reason they cost so much on the AH.

I have done way too much farming of boxes, treasures and various other things… seen 1. Friend has had similar experience.
A bunch of enchants require them. Many of those enchants are not even in any demand yet because most people don’t waste gold on gear they replace in a week or less. They are way too rare for how often they are needed.

I’m honestly not sure, I’ve only run like 3 delves total (the one in the campaign and the 2 runs in nightfall sanctum). I would guess the chests outside the treasure room are on a daily lockout, but only a guess.
I looted well over 1000 dirt piles, and like 250+ treasure boxs, not 1 single tinderbox. It’s why I was slowly going mad haha. Thanks for the tip though! <3

This is a serious problem. Most purple crafts require 6 Sanctified Alloys and each pair of alloys requires a tinderbox to craft 2. That’s assuming you can get gold alloys, because why would you make it with crap materials?
Add in the Patroon orders where they expect you to supply 2 sanctified alloy (which requires a tinderbox to craft) so you can get back… absolutely worthless crap in return (1 knowledge point and a +20 skill finisher)… If you’re lucky, you might get 20 Artisan’s Acuity which is their own side problem. Alloys are 5k on AH (10k for 2), or the materials which are 8k for the tinderbox, 3k for the null stone, and misc change for the other metals. So Yay… 5-10k for a knowledge point… maybe.
edit: I take that back. 6 alloys for the craft, so 30k+ for crap rewards.
There’s bottlenecks to increase cost, and there’s whatever the F*** this is supposed to be.
My recommendation would be to 1) Increase the drop rate and/or make a more reliable method to farm these, and 2) for the stupid expensive patron requests, have the patron supply the higher end materials. Because let’s face it, there’s no way I’m going to hand 30k worth of materials to some random player just because they ask or because it might give me a knowledge point. If I won’t for a player, why would I do it for an NPC?
