ive done 22 delves and have yet to see a single one what gives ?

The secret is running 23 delves.

It’s probably in the highest tier delve.
You can get them from snuffling piles. No need for delves.

I randomly found two of these sitting in my reagent bag.
From world activities, I think Nightfall Sanctum delve was actually being farmed for these, but they hotfixed it or something lol.
Payday, that’s like 22,000 gold right there. (~11,000g each)
They are certainly rare.
They seem to have a really low droprate (Wowhead calculates it as being ~1-2% chance).
It’s probably my main issue with professions at the moment. I seem to have hit a bit of a wall where I’m relying on getting low drop rate recipes or regeants in order to do anything of value.
I really don’t think you should have to spend hundreds of thousands of gold at the AH just to continue progressing at a pace that isn’t glacial.
I found one this week.
You should have better luck in the Hallowfall sinkhole delve. The one with the giant ship in the cave. You can run it at level 1 and still get chance of it dropping. Its a rather quick and easy delve so it would be your best bet imo.
What you need to do is get some ordinary tinder boxes and then /yell profanities at them to turn them into profaned tinder boxes.

I’m pretty sure I’ve sold a couple of them.
I have run many delves , infact I am close to complete the glory achieve , I have only seen 2 drop 
I farmed up 4 of them for my weapon craft. They definitely exist still.
I’ve seen more of them in dirt piles. I’ve got maybe 1 or 2 from all the delves I’ve done.
Its crazy random too. Spent 2 hours saturday morning farming herbs/ore/treasues/wax piles, got zero. (I know herbs and ore dont drop them, i was multitasking) Hopped on my blacksmithing alt to gather some treasures, got two in 5 minutes.
What’s crazier than how much they sell for is that there was apparently an exploit involving them until recently. They used to go for about 5k or so but apparently that was due to the exploit and now they’re back to what the market has deemed them to actually be worth. 
Yea…i need them to level blacksmithing and have some plate gear crafted for this toon, but yikes!!! Wish I had bought a bunch at 5k.
I got 3 of them from a delve lol. Probably just dumb luck.
I have a few of them spread about different characters. Heck I did not even know where I got them from until someone said they drop in delves or sometimes the chest you find outdoors.
I’ve gotten more profaned tinderboxes doing the Hallowfall Light Events than doing Delves.
I think I currently own 12 of them.
I sold about 12 so far.
