After all the nerfs and things. Is it still best route to spam farm delves for chance to drop these rare craft mats?
I’ve gotten like 7 boxes from doing 5 T8 Bountiful Delves across my alts this week after the changes, meanwhile I also flew around for a combined 2-3 hrs to open treasure chests and got 0 Tinderboxes. So based on my personal experience Delves are the way to go.

I’m glad someone’s finding them somewhere. Out of the delves I’ve done and all the wax/chest farming I’ve done too, I haven’t seen a single one across 3 different alts. (Granted not all of those Delves were t8 either to be fair either.)
I was getting very few from delves and wax farming. Then I got to renown 16 with Assembly of the Deeps which unlocks ‘Snuffling II’ (wax farming). The description says ‘snuffling treasures will now have additional rewards’. Since then I’ve been getting a better supply from wax farming - but it dries up quickly. I found I could get 1-2 quite quickly on a toon then had to swap to an alt. I now have 30 tinderbox in my bank. I’m not sure if the higher drop rate comes back for a short time weekly - will see after this weeks reset.

Unfortunately it seems like the only reliable way to farm these is by running Nightfall Sanctum (delve) over and over again. I’ve already mentioned it in a forum post as well as submitted a suggestion but alas, no changes yet.
I havn’t really delved (no pun intended) to far into farming this item, but I’ve farmed a bit and it seems to have a fairly high drop chance from Nightfall Sanctum.
And with the new changes the Profaned Tinderbox went from 8-10k gold to about 600g overnight. Definitely not worth farming for any longer.
havent dropped for me in delves though i have seen others since the update. personally i am not farming them as the drop in gold price does not make it worth my time.
