That’s not at all obvious. You have a whole dead server’s AH worth of higher end resources brought in, sure. And you have all of their players too. It’ll disrupt the economy, but it won’t establish mafias.
A dead server could be considered one with 1000 active players on it. All of their resources will be brought over into the economy which is much much more than what you will see with layering.
Is it feeling like Sunday everyone? I think it feels like Sunday.
All I’m suggesting is that a non-exploitable system that’s not associated with a plethora of game breaking bugs is potentially a better idea that the alternative. Not that server mergers are ideal. I’ve read plenty of arguments about it, but I’ve never seen any that lead me to believe that layering will be less detrimental than mergers would.
You are the one who is a child here, only thing you are doing is mocking others.
Server merges break immersion, break the economy, could force name changes, could bring queue times your current server was not having prior to the merge, theres so much more potential damage a merge can do than layering will.
Merges have their own set of exploitable situations.
Plethora of game-breaking bugs is overstating fact
You are not reading enough then.
Do the exploits need addressing? YES!
Is layering a better solution than mergers? I believe so.
We know for a fact that things are being addressed and worked on.
You playing a game that has changed in a way that you do not like is not a copyright issue but a licensing issue… one that you agreed to…
Claiming that you have a “right” to steal the protected property because you do not like the way it is changed is a copyright and licensing issue.
Something you are on the wrong side of regardless of what you think…
READ the EULA…
You guys quit bickering. Be grateful they are even doing this project and enjoy a game.
Merges are nowhere near as open to exploits as layering is, it’s not even close. Layering allows for systematic exploitation from day 1, merges are something that may or may not happen, you don’t know when they’ll happen, they happen at one point in time… There’s just not much you can do in the way of exploiting for merges.
You can hoard mats leading up to a merge after it’s obvious that it’ll happen, but that’s not quite like layering hopping to pick flowers…
Really. So you don’t think gold farmers won’t try to find low pop servers to gather and collect in peace waiting to be transferred?
Such a naive person.
Your fear-mongering on exploits from day one are noted.
Now… How about some brainstorming on how to fix those exploits?
Internal cool down is already in place.
Next?
Oh geez so your Black Lotus mafia is going to need more than one member? I guess that’s it for them then.
It’s also ignoring that all the art in the game is still protected under copyright.
While also ignoring that now that classic is in development the main defense of abandonware has no legs to stand on.
No there weren’t and look what that has turned into. Do we really want to go down the same path?
No no no. If we are just grateful for getting Classic we’re a paid blizzard shill. We’re not a “true fan” of vanilla. Or we don’t understand the “vanilla experience” cause we obviously never played it.
I’m with you man I’m excited as all get out to finally have vanilla back after 12 years.
It’s not close and I acknowledged that, but it IS still the game we all paid for.
Plus you’d have to actually define how much change is the point where “they no longer offer the game”. Can I claim that Classic doesn’t offer the game I bought because I bought WoW 1.2? I wont get the original talent tree of my Paladin, and I wont have Seal of Fury.
I don’t begrudge people who played private servers. I played around on them a little bit myself.
But there’s no need to do the mental gymnastics about “Blizzard took my game away from me!” that some people do.
Maybe one day you’ll educate yourself, in the meantime enjoy your bootlicking.
So you’re asking for something to not happen in classic because it wasnt in vanilla by it being resolved by something that also didnt happen in vanilla?
