Processor upgrade - I need your help!

I have a RX 6600XT with a Asrock a320m-HD motherboard and a a Ryzen 5 3600, and i was thinking about upgrading the processor for a 5700x3d (the max the a320m can run, basically) is it worth? Will I see less fps drops in heavy content (cities, raids, scenarios with too much stuff, etc)?

Yes it’s worth it. I can’t really answer your question since RAM plays into it but you should definitely see an improvement.

Yep, the X3D will be a significant boost from what you have. It’s still behind the current gen X3D chips by quite a bit, but that will be the best you can get without upgrading motherboard/CPU/RAM all at once.

Thanks all! I’ve made it. 2 days to arrive.

doubtful you see a real world impact on your highs FPS (assuming you are @ 1080p) but you will see the impact more on your avg and lows with the 5700X3D handling the game engine when it dumps a lot on the work on the big cores. The real impact would be on your next GPU upgrade still a worthwhile upgrade especially for games like WoW.

I play in 1400p, dunno if that makes diff

so it will make the RX 6600XT even more of a limiting factor for highs but still help out in smoothing FPS avg in downstream issues.

My only problems are lows, actually, the game in world content is already running WONDERFULLY good if not putting water on ultra and vision distance as min as possible too (i kind of vary both based on the map and how it runs it). If I get better fps in raids, or more “complicated” maps, it will be already good. But since we’re here, wich would be a good upgrade for WoW taking into account my system is AM4?

Actually the X3D CPU’s will have a pretty large effect on FPS. Both 1% lows and average should increase quite a bit. This makes a difference even if you are normally running at the monitor’s refresh rate.

I’ve already stated that " you will see the impact more on your avg and lows" but you need to realize the 6600 XT will hold back performance of the 5700X3D @ 1440p on the highs.

You will get smoother FPS in situations where upstream issues are not the culprit to your bad FPS. The GPU will still hold back the CPU like I said previously but still a worthwhile upgrade.

Seeing as you plan to stick with the AM4 platform (which is fine), the CPU upgrade makes sense which you can then follow with a GPU upgrade when you are ready for it. Depending on the exact GPU upgrade you would get, you may (or may not) need a PSU upgrade.

Is there a specific GPU you would recommend still in AM4 to keep up with 5700x3d? I’ll go for 32 RAM too

100%

More so OPs lows. Which means OPs overall experience will feel smoother. Because frame drops during content with lots of people in one spot such as Raids, World Events ect ect will be less noticeable. Basically you will not have as many frame dams when they will not be as big either

depends on your budget, power supply, and the other games you play along with what kind of performance you want. 32 GBs of ram is nice but not needed if all you play is WoW especially if it allows you to get a better GPU
