I just noticed that when I add chandeliers to a room on the second floor, the lighting also changes in a different room on the third floor located directly above it. This should not happen, since the lighting was added only to the room on the second floor, and it makes no sense for it to affect the room above.
Lighting has always shot through walls to adjoining spaces. I intentionally shoved a Tusked Chandelier into the ceiling (not visible to visitors) to increase the light level of the Elven Chandelier (which is visible and people think that’s throwing all the light, but it’s actually pretty dim).
The Paladin tome thing (Librem of Kings?) shoots a vertical beam of light upwards that passes straight through to the next floor above!
I won’t disagree that perhaps it should not work like this, as you assert, but it’s been this like this since Housing launch, so I’ve assumed it’s a feature and have worked around that (e.g., hiding light sources in the ceiling/walls to enhance visible light sources).
I’ve noticed light going through player-placed walls and platforms… going through the walls and floors of the base rooms is a new one for me.
Now I’ll have to start looking for this.
I had a fell dungeon and the green light bled through the walls. That’s why I wanted a basement with high ceilings. My cages need to hang properly and my lighting can stay at the base.
The ceilings, floors and stairs are paper thin. They are!
I can grab one of 1st story chandeliers from my priest’s upstairs bedroom. In fact the hit box is so big, it’s hard to move anything in the room without grabbing it.
Lighting from below gets in below my jaw and beams out my eyes, I look silly and I do not like it.
Lighting from above gets in my eyes and shine down on my feet through my jaw. It looks silly and I do not like it
