I use a GeForce GT 630mx. Windows 7. After the previous big patch i was unable to use this card and was being forced to set the game to the Intel built in graphics, at which time it played just fine as if it was secretly using the real Nvidia. That worked fine until this patch today in which i logged on and the Nvidia card was the selected display driver once more. The game is laggy and unplayable again and the option for the Intel Graphics is now missing so that fix won’t work. If i select “Auto Select” the pull down menu lists 2 instances of Nvidia GT 630m and no Intel Driver. My driver is from March 2018 but Nvidia’s website nor my laptops site offers a newer driver. It isn’t a FPS problem, FPS is still the same ranging from 50-60fps (Vertical sync enabled). Even at 60fps the game is choppy and laggy. Again, this has actually been happening since the previous patch but switching to Intel Driver seemed to fix it. I have no option for directx12 and the new directx 11 doesnt work.
I did log in to a grey box saying Hardware Changes do i want to reset the graphics, which i tried both Yes and No. So my questions are… why is the Intel driver no longer listed, why does the Nvidia Driver lag badly? Im guessing a nvidia driver should never lag more than the built in Intel one.

I have this exact issue. When 8.1 rolled out, I was given a choice between my integrated graphics and my actual graphics card. Selecting the graphics card or Auto-Select(which obviously selected the graphics card) caused the choppiness that you describe. Selecting the integrated graphics oddly completely fixed the issue and it was obviously still using my graphics card anyways.
And also exactly as you describe, with the 8.1.5 patch, I see 2 instances of my dedicated graphics card and not the integrated graphics. Selecting either one causes this terrible choppiness. The framerate isn’t even very low, around 40 fps, but it feels like 15 fps.

Yes! you described that way better than i did lol. So what Oldmana said, only difference is my card is Nvidia GTX 630M. Same exact problem
I have similar issues with a gtx 660. My temp work around for the minute is using the Direct X 11 legacy. I got quite a bit of my former fps back. Might be worth a try, till something better comes along? I remember having to go back to an older version of Direct X at the start of Pandaria for the same kind of reason. it worked then, too, till Blizz got the issue fixed.
DX11 Legacy seems to stutter slightly less but it’s far from ideal. Also are you sure you don’t have a GTX 660M?
Also, for reference, there are threads describing this exact issue when patch 8.1 came out, here and here. It appears that perhaps Nvidia Optimus might be part of the issue here? Everybody with the issue seems to have mobile Nvidia cards.

I am sorry to hear do many of you are having lag and video issues after the update. I will try and help here, but must call out a few of you have systems that look to be under specs. This means the new patch finally hit them hard enough to not work.
With that said, on to the troubleshooting. First thing I would do here is make sure all Overlays are off IE: Overwolf, discord, twitch, and steam overlay. We have been seeing quite a few issues with these after the patch and it is best to just turn them off.
Next, I would want to run the system in a clean boot. We can do this with a selective startup, this will turn off all extra programs. While in this mode, I would want to do a clean install of the Nvida drivers you have.
You can do the clean install by using custom install and a clean install after downloading the new driver above. 
I hope this helps y’all out, if not, please get back with DxDiags and any changes you see. If we work together, we may find an answer.

I have a Geforce GTX 765M and have been having the same problems. Like others have said it started with 8.1 itself but I was able to more or less fix it but selecting the Intel graphics ingame. When I did that the framerates went back to normal and I didnt have any stuttering. Now however I can’t select Intel at all, I just have auto detect and 2 765M options, neither of which fixes the problem. Oddly everything launched properly the first time I ran the game after the patch, I only started running into trouble after the small patch I had to download later. I’ve tried installing the latest driver like you said and nothing has changed, still lower framerates and stuttering gameplay. Here is the DXdiag.

Your intel graphics drivers are ancient. Those control the handoff to the dedicated graphics card, so you’ll want to update them and see if that helps. Get them straight from intel.
I just tried updating the Intel drivers but nothing seems to have changed, at best the framerate is very slightly higher (1-2). Otherwise still lower framerate than before and still stuttery.

Decode Power Usage: 0I was also thinking maybe 8.1 raised the requirements causing problems, but it didn’t explain why switching it to the intel graphics worked good. Infact at that time, switching it to Intel gave the same results as my Nvidia before the patch. It was as if selecting Intel was actually Nvidia and Nvidia was running as Intel. This problem seems to be only people with windows 7 and the Optimus Technology, which is the reason why directx only shows the intel chip as the display. I have an old desktop with wow installed, its about 10 yrs older than this laptop and wow runs at around 20-25fps yet smoother than what im experiencing now on the laptop 
The laptop is running at 45-60fps and even at 60fps it’s choppy, it kinda drags… like not FPS choppy but a dragging feeling. I also noticed when i do Expeditions, Raids, Dungeons… after about 10mins in, the whole laptop begins to slow down to a point i have to crash the game and relog in, then its playable again. Hope this helps.

Your report is not even reading the Nvidia graphics cards just the Intel card. Have you downloaded the latest drivers for your Nvidia cards?
I don’t know what kind of Bios you have for your notebook it’s an A 08 bios when that particular notebook is up to A 11, never saw InsydeH2O but who knows Dell is probably using them for updates now. Might want to visit your manufacturers support page and update your notebooks bios that might help with switching between your intel and Nvidia graphics for gaming.
My dxdiag doesn’t list my GTX 770M either although it is obviously present in the system. I’m assuming that’s because of Nvidia Optimus. Also, I have not encountered any issues like this with any other games or applications or had this issue present in WoW prior to patch 8.1.

Mine is NOT an M. Trust me lol. I have a desktop rig. Its old, but its pretty stable and this is the first time I’ve had issues since Pandaria. Either way they do seem to have some of it sorted out on live. I 'm not lagging nearly as badly as I was, even when I switched back from legacy to current Direct X. I raid with this old rig and I still do OK, most of the time
Going to throw this in there as well, i’m also noticing wow is running at a higher memory usage. I don’t know what the numbers mean or if this is normal but with a fresh boot up of wow the game is running at 2,538,000 Kilobytes. When the game gets hectic via a dungeon or raid, memory starts to crawl upwards til the computer can’t handle it. Then i have to crash game out and relog in. Maybe this is less graphics and more a memory problem with wow? We all have a similiar problem and similiar systems, Optimus/win7/Intel HD 4000/Nvidia GeForce GT 630M for me. I can’t update my drivers anymore, the notebook GT driver is 2018, the Intel one is 2017 but that’s up to date, even using the notebook manufacturer page. My OCD is going nuts so it’s list time lol. Problems: 1. Why did Nvidia become awful after 8.1 yet Intel worked just fine. 2. Why did the Intel display dissapear from the display options in wow with 8.1.5. 3. Is wow using more memory now or is there something going on? I know some of our computers arent stellar, not having Win 10 etc but i don’t understand why the game is sluggish/choppy yet our FPS is just fine, why in 8.1 intel performed better than Nvidia displays that are 10x better. So now to update, I’ve tried updating my Nvidia driver to the latest available, updating the Intel driver to latest, and now even updated the BIOS to the latest Dell had for my system. I also removed all addons and tried playing the game on the laptop’s built in screen (I normally play on a separate monitor thats larger), so far none of these have worked-the game is still running at lower framerates than before and choppy/stuttery. I know the Nvidia chip works fine because other games like Overwatch work fine with it, the only issue is WoW.
