Problem with Chromie?

I am a returning player after taking time off from the game. new account, new characters the whole 9 yards. Both my wife and I stared playing again on the same day with both of our daughters and my wife is able to Chromie to interact with her but when i try i get “Hey there Baltyn! Wherever you want to go, I can help you get there! Time works in mysterious ways, but you don’t look like a stranger to mystery.” Then nothing. Any ideas?

First, it probably helps to clarify what you mean by new accounts. The various unlocks are Battlenet account wide, so any WoW licenses under one Battlenet will share unlocks. So, what is going on will be different if you’re talking about a brand new Battlenet account or a new WoW account on an existing Battlenet.

On a brand new Battlenet account, unlocking Chromie Time requires a level 60 character. (Making a trial character may satisfy this requirement.) You also need to take at least one character all the way through the tutorial up through getting the Welcome to Zandalar/Come Sail Away achievement before a lot of other stuff unlocks.

Finally, regardless of what you’ve unlocked on an account, if you start a character on Exile’s Reach you need to exit the tutorial for Chromie Time and the Hero’s Call/Warchief’s Command boards to work properly. The two “clean” ways to do this are either opt out of the tutorial when you first get to Stormwind/Orgrimmar after completing Exile’s Reach or to finish the BfA intro up through the achievements listed above. (Personally, I prefer the second option as it prevents a lot of other BfA phasing interference in the main cities.) I’ve seen people be able to break out of the tutorial by leaving the main city or other things, but it’s not something I’ve tried myself.

Well its been 7-8 yrs maybe longer since my wife and i played last. So this would be 2 new WoW accounts. before that we both had fairly high lvl hunters. My hunter was higher than hers was but not by much and we were both well above 60. Since starting back up Chromie will give her the choice to do other stuff but im stuck.

We both have a lower lvl char in the process of doing Heros Call but went thru the normal char lvling with our mains.

And just checked i DO have a few achievements already in Pandaria

If they were both brand new battlenet accounts, did your wife make a trial character at some point? That could have given her access to Chromie Time. (You can try doing the same to see if it unlocks it for you.)

Login restricted so no go trying the trial character and no she never did. My daughter thinks that maybe i was halfway thru a quest line on my old account that has me blocked. Don’t remember any quests that you had to do you go to Pandaria. I was obviously there. I have the achievements to prove it

Are any of your current characters 60 or above?

There was a level squish during shadowlands and level 120 characters became level 50’s.

Old level 60’s are actually 33’s and wouldn’t qualify for Chromie. So unless you had previously hit 120 before the squish, you probably haven’t unlocked it yet.

If none of your characters are 60 or above NOW then you probably need to hit 60 to open it up.

Is it possible that you accidentally swapped accounts with your wife and she’s playing your account?
