Problem Clicking in front (above) my character

Hey there! I’m having an unusual problem that just started today. I cannot click on ANYTHING (target, interaction, npc, ANYTHING) in front of my character. None of my clicking buttons work in front of my character (left/right/mouse 4 and 5). Tried 3 different mouses to see if it was a mouse issue. Have no problems in any other windows/games/internet/etc. Everything works fine when I click the screen below (behind) my character. It’s literally only in front. Just started today. fwiw, I play on a mac. My mouse MOVES above my character, but it’s like the game does not recognize me clicking. Even when I click on a binded button (mouse 4/5) above my character, the action bar doesn’t show an attempt. When I click below my character, everything is fine. Please help! It’s driving me nuts!

Are any of your mice Razer?

2/3 are razer, but the problem occured with all 3 mice

Alright.

  1. Have you tried checking your sensitivity in your settings?
  2. Have you tried resetting your settings on your mouse?
  3. Have you tried plugging your mouse into a different USB port?
  4. Can you clean each mouse via air duster?
  5. Can you check your in game settings?
  6. Is your computer updated?
Please let me know when you can, thank you.
  1. Yes. When I plugged the second mouse in (it’s brand new… wanted to wait til mine died before I used it), the settings were way off, so I had to reset my sensitivity.
  2. Yes, see above.
  3. Yeah, I normally plug it in through a usb hub, but plugged it into the comp itself (both ports) to test this.
  4. No? but again… the second is a brand new in box mouse. issue persisted.
  5. I checked them, but don’t really know what to look for? there aren’t many in game mouse settings aside from look speed and sensitivity
  6. Computer is on current os.

This honestly feels like an in game issue. Like when I hover my cursor over my soulwell (warlock of course) It doesn’t even change my cursor show that the object is interactable. It’s like the game doesn’t recognize where my mouse is. But if I walk past my soulwell and hover my mouse over it, the cursor changes and I can interact with it… It’s the strangest thing!

  1. Are you in fullscreen mode or windowed mode?
  2. What kind of addons are you using, are they up to date? Try disabling them and trying it out.
  3. Try resetting your UI.
Tell me if that works out?

Hi Gaaralock,

Do you run other software while playing the game?

For example, Discord’s overlay has caused problems like this for people in the past.

I do run discord and twitch usually in the background… unfortunately for me, neither the discord or twitch overlays are supported on Mac’s, so neither was the issue. I tried closing both though, and restarting my computer and the problem persisted. I didn’t check to see if it was an addon interaction, since that seemed like an odd effect for half of the screen, but I will check that tomorrow and disable my addons.

I haven’t heard from you, so I hope that it worked out? Please let me know if it did. I want to help you to the best of my abilities in getting you to click away.

No idea. When I opened it this morning, everything was fine. It did do an update when i logged into bnet, so possibly something there? Otherwise nothing changed. Thank you for your help!

Try opening a ticket with Bnet support, I’m sure the technical support will be able to further assist you if my methods didn’t work, sorry I couldn’t be of any help.

This has started happening to me as well, I have many mouses including the Naga, i just got it today and it started doing it. I reloaded my UI and the problem went away. However i want to figure out the problem behind it, i close down every other program except WoW and it still does it.
The way it works is its almost like an invisible box that covers the vertical center of your screen (from top to bottom) and its about 4 inches wide. Wide enough to where you can click anything thats infront of you. I dont want to uninstall WoW if i dont know that would fix it. It always starts off fine but then it happens again.

Go ahead and run /fstack in chat. From there hover over the area that you’re having issues with. This should let you know if there’s a frame there that may be causing issues. If you need assistance with that, take a screenshot of the info being displayed.

That’s excellent, i appreciate that. I think however i have to wait until the issue starts again until i can actually see what it is, because when i ran /fstack, in my center of my screen i saw a box, which i guess is common, and above I saw a horizontally long rectangle, which said dialog on it. I think these are the same for everyone. Something triggers somehow that brings up that invisible frame, ill take a picture of it when it triggers, thank you so much for showing me that!

Sure thing, let us know if you’re able to find anything and we’ll see what all can be done

So I know this was a while ago but I found the same problem for myself. I did what blue post said and typed /fstack in chat and a green window appears over the center of the screen and a smaller window with text appears over the chat window. I mouse over where i have a problem and in the smaller window under the “median” it shows invisible “boxes/windows” there. Mine were addons such as recount and atlas loot and a couple others. I logged out, unchecked the addons and logged back in and the problems were gone.

Hope this helps others in the future : )

This was just happening to m in the future. Ran /fstack and found spy addon had an invisible block right on my char preventing me from clicking on myself or anything infront of me like herbs for instance

Hey all,

Going to lock this thread due to age and mark the solution as running /fstack to verify the addon causing the problem, then disabling said addon. Keep in mind that addons are not made by Blizzard so we do not directly support them outside of providing info on how to remove them from the game.

Hope this helps. Cheers!
