But I think affliction should have access to summon a fel guard. This gives the spec an MS and an instant stun to help with pesky melee and not to mention axe tossing a caster or healer during their cast counts as an interrupt too that locks them out of that school.
Axe Toss is quite a double edged sword. On one hand, having a single target stun in a class that lacks one otherwise is great. On the other hand, having t he stun AND an interrupt intertwined has a few issues.
For a current example: trying to kick the wayward casters in Halls of Atonement will not help make them run into the pull and instead they’ll just get stunned for a few secs and keep casting.
Also Axe Toss is a 30 second cooldown, there are quite a few pulls where I can only help with every other big bad cast whereas any other ranged spec has its 24 sec int line up perfectly (well, except for SPriest silence of course)
As a demo main, I sometimes find myself wishing I could switch pets for certain fights / dungeons, and this desire is growing increasingly more common.
I hear ya and this is coming more from a pvp perspective. They could even reduce the cd to 24 seconds to line up with fel hunter cs.
If aff had fel guard then you could make the argument that destro should have have it as well. I think a better solution would be to have spec specific pets. Aff gets a weakened observer thats empowered by dark glare, destro uses felhunter or imp. When infernal is up the felhunter pulses an aoe silence every ten secs, interrupt CD is unaffected. The imp shoots out mini soul fires instead of fire bolts.
That would offer some incentive to using a pet as aff and destro. It won’t happen because it’d be something else they’d need to tune but it’s a fun idea.
Well yes and no, destro has multiple schools of magic where affy doesnt. Destro has an instant stun with infernal and can coil two people at the same time. In terms of cc destro is miles ahead of affliction. So I dont really think that destro would need access to a FG but I could see it being very useful for affliction.
Iirc, Fel hound shadow bite used to do more damage based on number of DoTs on the target, it was a prime choice for affliy back then. I don’t want a single target short stun. It will mess up my beautiful shadow fury.
My easy fix would be changing fear and shadow fury to fel fury to chaos school that way the interruptor has to pick between anti-cc or shutting down dps. Now affliy is the tru underdog of all casters.
It also had devour magic which healed it or restored mana… I can’t remember which.
And then the warlock could use dark pact (I think that was the name back then) and drain mana from the pet instead of using life tap.
Was good times for SL/SL warlocks
I miss permanent doomguards and infernals.
