Most people know by now affi is the most efficient spec to level as, dotting up and wanding to do good damage while letting your mana regen, something i see not many warlocks using or talking about is dark pact, dark park is the final talent in the affliction tree and it transfers 150 mana from your pet to you, now how is this good you ask? Well my friends, firstly it has no cd, no mana cost, doesn’t stop mana regen and also doesn’t stop your pets regen meaning you can spam it till you’re pets oom.
If you use succubus and turn off all of it’s abilitys so it’s only auto attacking it will be 24/7 benefiting from spirit meaning you can tap your pets mana bar and have no repercussions, succubus auto attack is the strongest out of all warlock pets, and lash is pretty average at best unless you spec into it, meaning succubus only auto attacking is losing you not even 10% damage.
This strategy will decrease your downtime by alot, infact vs most normal mobs i dont have to life tap ever, infact i havnt had to life tap once outside of a dungeon just to be more efficient since i’ve gotten dark pact. i rarely have to drink, from 40-43 i think i’ve had to drink 3 times while keeping myself topped 24/7 with drain life when needed. note this was also on a yellow elite quest i was soloing. Normal mobs i can literally go virtually forever without stopping.
Long story short dont sleep on dark pact my warlock friends, try it out and you’ll be pleasantly suprised by how good it is.

I was actually looking at that talent i really love how my warlock plays
This character actually. Im slowly leveling him up
There’s a drain tanking build that actually works based off Dark Pact. But instead of using Succubus, you use Imp and leave him phased and on passive. You basically dot and drain tank the sh-it out of 2-3 mobs at a time and never go oom cause of Dark Pact and LifeTap and Draining/Siphon Life. It’s fast and super efficient

Yeah but in my expierence siphon life isnt really worth using on normal mobs single target, it does below average damage/healing but costs a s**t ton of mana if on elites or mobs lasting 30 seconds, multi dotting or pvp then yeah use it, otherwise i don’t use it for mana reasons.
My drain life alone with improved drain life and shadow mastery+ shadow gear is doing 60 hps/dps which is pretty insane, at 44 i get the new rank which will be even stronger, maybe around 75-80 damage/hps with just drain life.
Also about what you said about imp, i’ve looked at this, and it isn’t worth it because imp only has minimal spirit increase over succubus ( like 20 spirit) and basucally the same mana, but if you use imp without firebolt your pet is litertaly doing 0 dps, where if you had succubus out it can do 60-80+ auto attacks consistantly while not actually using attacks there for always regening mana.
My succubus with only auto attacking still does 10-20%+ of my damage.
Hope this helps

Why would you use the imp instead of the Succubus? If you’re leaving the Imp phased to act as a mana battery it does zero DPS.
On the other hand you could use the Succubus and turn off all it’s abilities and let it just auto attack for nice additional DPS and still use it as a Mana Battery with Dark Pact. Or use the Fel Puppy for a little less auto attack damage but you gain a magic dispel and an interrupt.

Imp has the highest base spirit out of all the demons
Ok, but this is ignoring every single variable and is situationally perfect.
What if someone attacks you?
What if the mob is higher level, or multiple mobs overwhelm you?
What if you had more HP, or better healthstones?
Just gonna say it now. I rolled Affliction for a while and switching to a predominately demo build has been the best thing I’ve done yet as a warlock.
Two pets. More HP. Better pets. Better sac. Longer seductions. SL. Plus. You can just branch off into different parts after you got what you want from demo. Personally rolling 7/33/11.
Instant corruption. Improved life tap. Bane. Shadowburn. Its obviously not a level 60 spec or proper but it just suits everything I need whilst leveling.

I’ll give you a real life experience using the succy vs imp… I was in a higher level dungeon I think maybe lbrs and I was using the succy. She was auto attacking and all the sudden this trash mob (might’ve been a boss idk) just 1 shotted her with a cleave. I was like… and went petless for the rest of the encounter. It’s not like I wasn’t warned. My group said use the imp and I was like but succy is better dps plus I specced into her… After that encounter I never used the succy again for any pve content. Always the imp or VW. This was back in vanilla. I was young then.

Nice tip for endless mob killing but I think
The fastest Leveling warlock in PvP server is Demonology warlock with Soul Link (pet takes 30% damage taken by the warlock)
When ganked, you use void walker’s sacrifice which gives you damage absorption shield of 1931 damage then use fel summoning to summon another VoidWalker! (takes 0.5sec if you put points for the summon talent) Use Sacrifice again if needed! or summon felhound if faced against a mage or a priest.
The benefit of demonology tree is that you get more HP for both the warlock and pets and pets aggro more, so a pet like voidwalker can never lose aggro. Not dying in PvP server is the fastest for leveling I think.

You’re better off using the imp and keeping it phase shifted. Phase shifted it is out of combat, therefore has a killer mana regen which makes you have 0 down time. You just dot everything on you way and dark pact.
Random pro warlock tip, don’t buy ever spell book for your pet, you can skip to the end rank

Wait, seriously? I thought you needed to get them in order!
What, just not upgrade them till the last rank? That seems dumb unless it’s a pet you just don’t use for some reason.
Am I the only Demo lock in the world?
I sometimes feel like the only destruction-lock in the world.
(Though I did re-spec to affliction today cause I know the epic-mount grind will be better with it.)
So you’re willing to give up the DPS of the Succy for a slight gain in regen? Seems silly to me. The Succy can do up to 30% of your own deeps by herself.
Honestly I was going to just skip that talent but you made a very good argument and if anything else I actually want to try it out now.
