Prized Gladiator's Heraldry

The tooltip reads “Certifies crafted equipment for use in PVP battles, enabling it to scale to 678 Item Level.”

I have crafted a set of Engineering goggles. I maxed out Knowledge Points in Engineering Goggles.

I have numerous Prized Gladiator’s Heraldry, but am unable to use them to convert my Goggles into PVP gear as the tooltip indicates.

What am I missing and why is this crafting system so convoluted and misleading?

The heraldry is for use with pvp recipes that your fellow PvPers acquire and put in the AH. To take your pally as example, you need Algari Competitor’s Plate Goggles.

Its different from DF where you used spark and added on top the PVP item. They are their own line of crafts now.

So the tooltip is incorrect and I wasted a bunch of time and mats crafting goggles that I have no use for.

GG Blizz. GG :dracthyr_cry_animated:

It’s not incorrect. You just misinterpreted it. You crafted an item, without using the item you’re trying to use. Put in a little more critical thinking. There are some issues with crafting that are needlessly convoluted (crests/enchanted), but not this one.

In the end your mistake only cost you gold. Not a big deal.

It is incorrect. The tooltip states that it allows crafted gear to be used in PVP. It does not.

An accurate description would be that it increases the scaled item level of crafted PVP gear when engaged in PVP.

This would be like a Pharmaceutical company pushing a drug with claims that it lowers your blood pressure when in fact it only improves the functionality of another drug that lowers your blood pressure. With no indication that the other drug must be taken for their drug to provide any benefit, this theoretical pharmaceutical company would have their asses sued off.

I would say a more apt analogy would be the headline "man gets glove stuck on head! He says ‘It said one size fits all!’ "

Come on man. We’ve had separate pvp gear for sooooo long. Pvp crafts go with pvp items.

It would have taken you five seconds to go to the crafting order person and just look at what can be slotted. It clearly shows you what is allowed to be slotted in every piece right there.

…and this is why, when I order NiMH batteries for my robots there is a warning label that says “do not lick the batteries”.

You mean that slightly metallic taste dissolving your tongue isn’t meant to be a good thing?

What would all those Goblin and Mechagnome Engineers have to say about your idea after they’ve licked positronic connectors for the ten thousandth time?

Positronic connectors would be really reaaaaalllyyy bad. Positrons are antimatter electrons so licking that would have… Explosive consequences… clearly not for gnomish engineering!

Yeah explosions is more into the goblin theme. The gnome would prolly supply the big mechanical tongue to do the licking with overcomplicated safety measures and spinning wheels.

Why should I have to go to a crafting order NPC to determine whether or not Blizzard’s tooltips are accurate? I am not trying to request or fill a crafting order.

Why should I not expect there to be an item that converts crafted gear into PVP gear when the tooltip clearly claims that it does exactly that, and we also have a catalyst that will convert PVP gear into Tier?

Your amusing condescension aside, at the end of the day it’s not a huge deal. I wasted a bit of gold and effort, but I have my goggles now and know for future reference what the system requires, no thanks to the item’s inaccurate tooltip.
